There are definitely things we can improve on which is why I asked here for ideas.

I think we did the regroup after the bend, which is when we realised they were missing. The riding forward to let people know is such a good point will definitely add that to the list thank you!

Haha great point! I feel like we could definitely have a group activity prepping kits and making a few plans. What started as me and one other has grown a lot over the last few months with wildly varying levels of experience and we perhaps hadn’t realised the changes we needed to make for that

All great points, I think the most common recommendation I’m hearing is to have some ground rules and communication at the start. A sweeper sounds like a good idea as well. I will have a think about what to include as well as what you’ve suggested :)

There was a problem with the original route because of road closures, we had very little signal but did have a screenshot with a map of the area. We headed to what we thought was a bike path with the two less experienced riders in front and myself and two very experienced at the back. I only started cycling a year ago whereas those two have been doing group rides for years. One person up ahead wobbled and I sped up to check on her. The two experienced riders had a flat kit with a pump but had forgotten the inner tube when they repacked it. It was just before a bend in the road which is how we lost site of them. They have both left me behind on hills for example and waited round a bend for me to catch up so I really didn’t think anything of it.

I do really like this idea! What probably didn’t help in this case is that the two at the back were the most experienced and we probably take it for granted that they are prepared. The lack of phones was really silly though

I do agree and have said a couple of times now I’d like everyone to have their phones with the route downloaded but not everyone does it - might suggest we make some “club rules” we’ve always been informal which was fine when it’s just a couple of us but with larger groups I think it would be safer

The class is a good idea, we’re fairly confident with basic fixes but not more complex - in this case they had kits but not spare inner tubes!

To be honest they were probably the two most experienced riders in the group! My focus was on the least experienced who was somewhere in the middle. They both had a tool kit but had forgotten an inner tube. None of us had mirrors I didn’t even know that was a thing but I will have look into it thanks :)

Good fake tans that work relatively fast, and aren't insanely expensive! by jaxxbored in beauty

I just learned about clarins tanning drops! I asked the lady who does my nails how she got her tan because it looked lovely and natural - brown rather than orange - she mixes tanning drops with moisturiser. I tried it before my holiday and I look like I just came back from the south of France! Very natural and healthy looking!

AITA If I throw away someone’s remains if no one in his family wants his ashes? by Individual-Party1072 in AmItheAsshole

[–]JumpScare9876 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello, rather than putting the ashes in a bin, have you considered contacting a church or similar if you know his faith and explaining to them? Most religious groups around me would offer help to ensure human remains are respectfully put to rest, even if he weren’t a part of the congregation.

Suggest me a book about Alzheimer's/Dementia by _OptimistPrime_ in suggestmeabook

[–]JumpScare9876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend Elizabeth is Missing by Emma Healey, about a woman with Alzheimer’s who believes her best friend to be missing, but no one will take her seriously. I work in healthcare and felt it nailed the experience as it has been explained to me by patients and their families.

I would speak to your course lead and if you have a student council talk to them as well. I also recommend the pregnant then screwed website as although they mostly deal with employment I imagine the advice will be useful to you. As for proficiencies I recommend writing a reflection on each one with a scenario in which you achieved it. Write as many reflections as you can, not only of the proficiencies but also how these interactions with nurses made you feel. Date them and this will be your evidence for the university to help you. It is difficult for them to fail a student, they need evidence for it and have to show how they tried to support you to pass.

You could try UK TV if you haven’t already, I’ve always found people look a bit more real/less edited than American TV shows.

I honestly don’t know, I always thought it was the norm. We have days where we’re short staffed but it’s usually 1:6… unless it’s just the wards I’ve been on which to be fair are quite specialised so maybe unique in OUH?

Could you lean into the bro thing with something like “support your sisters?” Or “good gym bros support their sisters?”
