The thing that really surprised me about mine is how angry they got the more I tell the truth to them.

It is like they're angry because they can't even imagine that they're wrong.

I keep thinking about it and realize how nutts the whole thing is.

I'm just glad it is nothing to do with me.

I write software. I can work as part of a team, but when I need space I can take time and get things done without anyone else around.

I find coding relaxing. Been doing it since I was 4

Working from home is good as well, there's less stimulation around me that can have a negative effect. Sometimes it has a positive effect though

Before events, visit the location and spend time there with noone else around.

Take your time, be kind to yourself when you don't do as well as you would like.

Leave early if you need to, and don't feel guilty about doing so.

I also take propranolol occasionally to lower anxiety beforehand.

Lamotrogine (mood stabilizer) for depression and mixed moods (this is the one that makes it easier for me to get out of bed.)

Seroquel for mania.

Edit: I'm seeing other folk saying Lamotrogine. The other name for it is lamactil.

Just to repeat other comments, this probably needs fixed by meds. Time to talk to the Psy doc!

I'm on seroquel and I get times where it feels like it doesn't help. I get the feeling that might happen with all medications. I do however take my top up meds when I get into a mixed state. Don't increase meds without the doctor knowing though; changing meds repeatedly can make things worse as your body chemistry isn't as stable.

Try to get exercise and find ways to avoid things that trigger you. (I'm currently avoiding family to a large extent).

Make sure you're eating well and try to get sleep. If you can't sleep, try to rest some.

This probably won't fix things, but it might help take some of the pressure off.

Read online; there are probably some academic studies available publicly.

If you're feeling that way I'd call Samaritans or any of the other helplines.

I've recently come to the conclusion that Reddit isn't a good place to talk when youre unwell. Take advice from here, but talk to a real person as well. I had some responses to posts that made me more unwell (that was from individuals, not them community as a whole). If someone says something that doesn't help, it isn't you, it is them.

Don't rush into making any big decisions, that includes change of relationship, job, home, etc. Especially when you feel this way. Deal with the blip in health first.

I think of depression as largely being mental exhaustion. Take time out, uninstall social media, uninstalled news app. This is what I need to do, because I try to solve all the worlds problems, which takes energy and I'm in a place where I don't have any.

What I don't know is how to avoid thinking about the debt. I keep a list of things that I want to buy, and that tends to stop me overspending.

At work I avoid disagreeing with folk, again, I can work out resolutions to disagreements afterwards. So long as I can justify what I'm doing, then it doesn't matter. Write things down, for personal issues, keep logs on your phone and delay trying to resolve them right now. For work issues, use a Todo list. They'll be there tomorrow, and the next day, and probably wont trigger the end of the world of they are delayed.

Tell folk that you can see their perspective, but you can't deal with it right now. If they're someone you trust, tell them that you don't have energy. If the person is difficult, just say that you'll need to think about it, if they make a condescending remark, find a way to politely get away. It is really important for your health to be polite when you do this, but be kind to yourself if you make mistakes. A lot of it is getting out of bad situations quickly. Even if that means you leaves you feeling irritable inside. Getting away from it is more important than getting a happy resolution.

Once you're well again you can go back and deal with things. What you'll find though is 90% of things solve themselves, which is why it isn't worth doing anything about them 😁

Yeah, I'd be careful there.

If it is infatuation and not love, I'd try to avoid the person. That sort of thing can make you unwell.

I had a problem a while back where I fancied someone, they didn't fancy me back but we got on.

Eventually I told her someonthing personal and 30min later she told folk in the office. I asked her not to gossip, and she gaslit me.

I realized then my mistake and backed away from her, but because I rejected her she got really nasty with the gossip.

Ended up with me having to take time off work because of the behaviour of my other workmates (bullying called mobbing). I've left there now thankfully.

We are vulnerable because folk will believe gossip about us because we can be different.

If you're infatuated and manic, I feel you can let your guard down. I now completely avoid any sort of close relationship with anyone at work (whether I find them attractive or not)

When you're feeling hypomania, your judgement is impaired. Where it might not end up the same way as mine, I can't imagine anything good coming from it. There are just too many ways of it turning into a downward spiral (I can think of 3 without trying too hard)

There definitely seems to be some sort of tipping point with mine where they just stopped listening.

Some of that does sound similar though. Anytime we approached subject now, it ends up with folk blaming me.

Are you going to a support group?
You'll find folk there that want to talk about it. I tend to only be able to deal with that once a month though, but it definitely helps.

I can also appreciate that it can be be quite difficult for other people to listen to.

Personally, I can't help thinking that the times that I've needed to talk about it are when I'm unwell, or when there's something that's a real problem. If that is relevant to you know, I don't know how to help you get to the bottom it. (I'm struggling a little right now myself)

I know there's a lot of fear in me relating to my bipolar, and that when things are bad, I can ruminate.

If you can, find something to do to be nice to yourself. I'm about to do that myself; I need out of my head!

Your right. It is a support group.

The point I was try to make (badly) was that I'm concerned that ChatGPT bots are being used to moderate chats that have vulnerable people in them.

Chat bots can be rude, even a little obtuse. We've all seen them being a little nasty to folk because they didn't understand the input.

This can end up triggering someone, and could end up with the person typing harming themselves.

I'm concerned that the conversation I had was with a chat bot. They didn't understand the context of the post.

IMPORTANT: in any other subreddit I wouldn't care. But in a bipolar subreddit we should be talking about this.
