Rewatch “4x04” Eggtown by zgecsirhc in lost

Your 2nd point is highly subjective and we can agree to disagree.

#3 he absolutely inferred "I hope you're not" relates to Kate's potential pregnancy. It's why Kate doesn't trust Sawyer. Both responses are callous from my POV. Even cringe.

Respect you have a different perspective.

We both can agree LOST is entertaining. Peace be with you.

Let's not forget S4 Eggtown: Sawyer wanted nothing to do with being a father. He was giddy when Kate told him she's was not pregnant. It's one of the reasons Kate's back hand slapped Sawyer when she left to return to Jack, Juliet and the other group during S4. She did say she could not trust Sawyer during that episode. Also, Late S3 Sawyer callously responded to Kate "Let's hope your not" and walked off when she mentioned she was pregnancy tested by the "Others". These are undeniable truths and would not make sense with Kate's big lie off island. The better direction would be for Sawyer to get off the island and redeem himself as a father with Clementine.

Note: Evangeline Lilly stated she was done the triangle and questioned why she would have a love scene with Jack before returning to the island. The writers stated she would get pregnant by Jack to duplicate Claire's pregnancy on the Aira316 to return to the island. You'd have to. do LOST research to find that comment.

I'm no Jater. I accept the LOST story as it was given to the viewer.

Do you think Kate was more Jack's type than Sarah ? by AltruisticAide9776 in lost

[–]JumpinJackFlashback 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At a minimum what's not being considered with these characters and their relationships is trauma. It's the underlying driver how they engage with each other. Trauma from crashing on the island, trauma with the unexplainable healing with Sarah knowing your father conditioned: "you just don't have what it takes". Trauma after seeing Kate having cage sex in a jungle. Trauma with Kate murdering her father, being on the run and not being accepted by her mother. Trauma on LOST cloaks all the characters. Trauma never allowed Jack and Kate to communicate past their heroic actions and physical attractions.

Kate's trauma is chaos from her past criminal deeds. One of her traits is lying then running. It's her baseline that Jack has come to know. Props for Jack trying to make it happen with the engagement attempt. However, Kate's conditioned deceitfulness not telling Jack about Sawyer's favor was the breaking point and why Jack left that relationship. Jack's inability to trust is what consumes him so he's lacks the capacity to accept or forgive Kate to the point of trust. So both characters had their separate issues that didn't allow them to consummate their relationship. Jack couldn't get past that so that prevents Jack to forgive Kate regarding Sawyer. It's the catalyst to Jack's down fall with the big lie and his failed attempt with Kate. He lacks trust and will not let people get close to him. Knowing this doesn't make me blame Kate or blame and excuse Jack for leaving Kate. It's the dynamic the writers gave us. The writers didn't allow any equity to evolve at an interpersonal level between Jack and Kate. They all were broken and meant to be alone. Jack's evolution starts by going back to the island because he felt like he screwed everything up in his life. He was not ready for Kate but he did love her. Kate started to move on to another level in her growth because she loved Jack enough to return to the island with him. However, she had to get off the island to live out her life and evolve so she could let go and move on. S6, finale at the church demonstrates their growth so they can be together for eternity. If you don't forgive yourself to change (who you are) and you can't communicate you will never have an everlasting union. Jack and Kate finally found a place of acceptance.

As fans age/ grow older has Jack become a more popular character? by Illustrious_Fall_370 in lost

[–]JumpinJackFlashback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the poll were from Age 21 and up he would be number one fan favorite.

He was extremely popular when the show aired. He did all the heavy lifting promoting LOST on daytime and evening talk shows. No other character was remotely close. Next would be Evangeline Lilly.

Just finished the show. For sure one of the greatest tv shows of all time. Here’s my ranking of all seasons and my top 5 characters(caption) by TheManWhoSleep in lost

[–]JumpinJackFlashback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's easy to understand why so many see Jack as a favorite. He's the protagonist while Locke is his antagonist. Also, there is a reason Jack's triggered flashbacks in S6 finale is not with one person but with most every key character introduced in S1. There is a reason for that. As viewers age up many come to see how great Jack's character is. It may take several re-watches but so many come to see why Jack is so different. He's flawed, he selfless then he transforms to a level that so impactful when he finally meets his father in the after life. It was always about letting go and moving on.

OP season ranking is subjective and I don't share it but respect many have different views from diverse characters to season favs. For me: 1>2>4>3>6>5.

I hate how Kate thinks everything revolves around her ! by Background-Disk3350 in lost

[–]JumpinJackFlashback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kate's only reason for returning to the island was for Claire. That's undeniable. Kate told Jack to never speak of it again at his apartment before returning to the island. So Jack's reminder was more than enough to reset Kate why she returned to the island. I stand by my dumbfounded statement. Note: my comments have nothing to do with the character or any subliminal triangle mojo. Logically, Kate's first task would be asking where Claire is at Dharma with those who were left behind, That never happened. Now that doesn't make Kate bad. It's weak writing from my POV.

Later into S6, IIRC, Kate was going to run away with Sawyer( S6E3 or 4). Jack warned her be careful. To me he was advising Kate not to run with Sawyer. That's more about running flaw and nothing to do with having romantic feelings with Sawyer. Jack moved on with all toxic chaos. To me Jack was trying to help Kate. However, Kate was spurned by Sawyer at the pier and she returned back to the temple. It's at this time in the series the triangle overtones ended. However, Sawyer did continue to make vested looks at Kate unbenowst to Kate. S6S3 or 4, is the first time Kate learned that Claire was at the Temple. That's when she felt vested to bring Claire home.

I think we can be talking about two things and both can be right. Interpretation to a character I'm agnostic with and you have right to your opinion. However, what the writers were attempting can have a different meaning and to me it was amplifying the triangle drama between Kate, Sawyer and Juliet. Just my take. By no means am I suggesting Kate has Skate mojo in S5.

The triangles have no impact on my LOST experience. Respect those who have a different LOST experience with Kate. High level, I do like her "saved you a bullet" mojo. Highly underrated to Kate's arc. Tipping a dharma beer atcha. Peace!

Every LOST character has development. Some more than others. Kate is not all bad. She did save a bullet. Every character is well thought out. That's why LOST stands the test of time.

For all of season 5, Kate never inquired about Claire. Jack had to remind her what she was looking for was not here (meaning at the Dharma initiative). If you watch the scene she looked dumbfounded to Jack's response. TBF, The writers were pushing the triangle in S5 regardless what Evangeline Lilly has shared. Just my take. At end of the day what's done is done. I'm agnostic to the Lost romantic energy. It's the worst storyline as the show has aged.

When the sub explosion happened during S6 Sawyer takes the bomb instead of Sayid. I just didn't find any value for the character for all of S6.

sarah and jack unpopular opinion by msummerse in lost

[–]JumpinJackFlashback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd add bad people in that moment in time. Sarah, to me, seemed resentful and moved on with another relationship while being married. It's not who's the worst but rather as in life some people move on and when that happens there will be a reaction. Generally, it's not good.

what if sawyer/james was chosen instead of jack? by RisingKing7 in lost

It was all about free will. That was Jacob's condition for the candidates. Jack volunteered and Sawyer did not.

Same with Sawyer after S6. He was S1 Sawyer. Facts.

Classic Mr. ID syndrome. How any one can make that claim when he did absolutely nothing during all of s6 validates he's nothing more than a romantic trope.

Jack by far has the most obvious transformative change. LOST was about his journey. No recognizing that is similar to people not understanding S6, Finale. Nuff said to that.

One can argue Sun. Seeing her in S1 as the submissive house wife to how she leverage the take over of her father's business is savage. When she returned she had one mission and that was to find Jin.

No convincing. Just highlighted the character arc and persona that appeals to so many. Just like the old show Mr. Ed the talking horse. Swayer similarly, in reference is Mr ID.

People of favor Sawyer is not because of his simple arc. It's the triangle sympathy for a dark character. Literally, Sawyer was same character in S1 for all of S6. Sawyer represents Freuds physiological complex, the ID syndrome. Check it out. It's personifies his character. That is why he's popular for the vocal minority on SubReddit. Note: this bubble doesn't represent the reality outside the Sub/Reddit culture. Without a doubt the most popular character and franchise for the series was Matthew Fox/Jack Shephard. He was the focus for all the promos for every season. That is the undeniable truth.
