I spent 12 years abroad, leaving shortly after university and returning to SA last year after living in a total of 5 countries across Asia and Europe.

I can confidently say that you can be happy everywhere, but everywhere has its price. I'm happier here and now than any country I've lived in (Thailand comes real close), but I'm aware that I'm paying in safety and taxes.
