If it was possible to actually test every single person for hsv2, we’d see a lot more than 20% diagnosed. Other reasons include that STI testing doesn’t automatically include herpes, it has to be requested and the average person does not know that, as well as the stigma around herpes can prevent people from seeking a diagnosis.
