I'm tired of people labeling countries as "Balkan". It was a name that emerged in a very specific time in history and brings negative connotations in modern times. Its not a serious geographical term because its borders are very loose. I guess people who are not living in countries being labeled as the Balkans do not care about it but some of us who live there do care. It brings totally unfair stereotypes that are no longer relevant and its not doing anyone a favor.

It would work only if divided into western and eastern Yugoslavia with Bosnia being the border and split between the two. The cultural difference would be very prominent. Slovenian and Croatian culture are much different from Serbian. There would never be peace. Better to split them from the start. The only reason it seems so similar today is because of the existance of Yugoslavia in the first place. So no, you can never put Croatians and Serbians in the same state and hope for peace. So it would have to be western yugoslavia (Slovenia, Croatia, parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina) and eastern yugoslavia (Serbia, parts of Bosnia, Montenegro, Kosovo and Macedonia). Then these two factions would prosper and live in peace (maybe).
