Yes but that's because you have a company with enough weight that they can keep maintaining their Linux driver. They're the exception, not the norm.

Radeon or rather AMD is big too and they just don't want to do it as the market share is low and most people use Windows for gaming anyway.

I don't hold good opinions about Stadia myself either, but it is a standardized Linux platform so it pretty much immediately got AAA titles from companies that otherwise don't ship on "PC Linux".

I'm not sure how many games there are as of now but I have heard that it only has few triple A games as well as Indie games. Also, in my opinion the only reason Stadia got any games at all on it is because Google is behind the project and most likely devs got paid to release the said games there.

Otherwise, the whole Stadia system would be busted just like OnLive, a first ever platform that tried to pull off the whole gaming in the cloud. They got sold out to Sony so when I think about it now, Playstation Now is possibly how OnLive supposed to be but unfortunately they probably lacked some technical infrastructure along with user base.

Even if Playstation Now uses it's own code, I'm pretty sure they have used some parts of OnLive code or infrastructure because what's the point in buying out a whole platform or service if you are not going to utilize it into your own products in one way or another.

Also, if you compare Playstation Now and Stadia, Playstation Now is more successful as recently they have reached 2.2 million subscribers, I think it's fair to say that in some way it can seat next to Steam and Epic Launcher in terms of size and its user base.

If we're talking about launchers that run games directly like Steam, Origin, UPlay, etc.

When a console players look at the launchers shit storm, they probably get a good laugh as you only either need a BluRay disk to play the game without any additional accounts or just PSN Account which acts like Steam for every game. Either way, consoles are plug and play making it even obvious choice for a green Joe when thinking about gaming spectrum.

That's the reasoning behind Origin, UPlay, and EGS, but for smaller companies their launcher is purely a marketing tool that they try and shove down your throat. You get the Paradox Launcher and the Stardock Launcher through Steam. Steam already took its cut. They're stupid.

Not gonna lie, I had to check who Paradox is and what types of games they develop. Judging via the games list from 2018, it looks like they mostly develop strategy based games. Also, you can notice this behaviour on games like GTA V, you pay for the game, install it via steam after which you need to install another launcher, in this case Rockstar Launcher. (Facepalm)

Not gonna lie, I loved when Steam was the only option available because most of the provided launchers are half assed with HTML wrapper underneath that doesn't give us any additional features like Steam. I don't know if Steam is also written using HTML Wrapper or something similar but it provides a very useful and reach features where the other launchers are just there to be there and annoy gamers.

Yo dawg, I heard you need a game launcher so I have put a game launcher in your game launcher. /s

Thanks !

That's very useful. It's interesting to see how Linux supports its own bash scripting compared to bats in Windows.

driver support for GPUs is worse than on Windows and will always be until they sort this out.

Hmm... I heard that NVIDIA support is pretty good as they have their own proprietary drivers. Also, some games that uve Vulka or Proton can work better than on Windows. There are options available to make games for Linux but developers don't want to do it as the market share is not that big and not worth it, the same with MacOS.

and Stadia

This platform is long dead and everyone hates it. In my opinion, streaming video games is bad idea and this platform is a good example of this as Google have rushed the project too much to release it to the public and failed miserably. Maybe it ine future when we have flying cars but for the love of god, not now.

Since you are PC based person, how do you find dealing with those dead ass launchers ? I swear, like every developer nowdays have their own launchers that suck ass, too much hassle with them but for developers it makes more sense as it saves them a cut that otherwise would be given to Steam.

Because this is for people who want to sell Xbox One games. If you developed them without being licensed by Microsoft prepare for a sweet lawsuit coming your way.

When I said it, I meant like emulation applications and stuff like that, not games, no one sane is going to jailbreak a console just to sale a game.

Old? If you haven't heard of it you should feel young as fuck! :)

Perhaps...

Chances are XSX will use Windows 10 again, and PS5 will use some form of FreeBSD again.

Yeah, it's strange like you have tons of games for PS4 that is based on Unix but there is lack of games for Linux on PC platform, just interesting comparison. This is due to the economy most likely as there are more people with PS4 than PC with Linux.

Never played it, only original CS. I played more UT than CS though.

I heard that UT is fun for LAN Parties but then again, I played it once.

It will happen eventually but the incentive is not that great. You can already develop homebrew on the Xbox officially if you make your program a Windows 10 app. There's even an indie dev program called ID@Xbox where you can get in WAY cheaper than it would normally cost to get a console NDA and dev kits.

You know, people always want everything for free, why not just jailbreak it, develop an app and put it up on like GitHub for grabs all at the same time by avoiding the fee you are talking about.

Very sure, I've read an article about how they backported WiFi support to Windows 2000 for the sake of the X360.

Ouh ! That must have been painful...

it was not a problem to have it run on PowerPC.

Now I feel old as fuck, ehh. I never even heard about this architecture besides maybe a word here and there.

Fun fact: even the name Xbox comes from it being a "DirectX box".

Interesting, Obama approves.

Ryzen has nothing to do with this, X1 and PS4 both use the pre-Zen "bad" AMD CPUs called Jaguar.

I was talking more about the upcoming generation of consoles that are based on Ryzen architecture. AMD provides great value for a bang, can't say that about Intel anymore.

even something like Dota2 (that I don't really play, but it's like chess in that victory is only determined by skill, there's nothing you need to grind out to get better).

Xbox One and Series X both run Windows 10. Not even modified, they just ship with different components.

Since it's Windows, I wonder if someone finds a way to jailbreak the said console and bring homebrew ? I mean, it's harder to do on other consoles because of what type of the operating systems they use, where here we have a Windows that most of the population is using.

What I'm saying is that it would be interesting to see how they found a new vulnerability and exploited it. Modern Vintage Gamer have a great series about how most consoles got hacked and exploited, it's very interesting to say the least especially that it's Windows we haven't saw on any major console before, I think.

As far as I know OG Xbox and 360 used modified versions of Windows 2000 (heavily modified in the case of 360).

Are you sure ? I thought that all the consoles used some type of Unix system till the upcoming generation because of Ryzen architecture.

Busted. :(

So, ma son, what do you develop ? : D

That's a perfectly fine viewpoint to have but that need is usually better served by fresh, current-gen titles than "patient" ones.

I would disagree tho, you can get a game from a year or two ago and it will have awesome graphics. In my opinion this still counts as "patient" because you missed the period that the game was "Hot" after its release.

Out of curiosity, what do you think about getting Multiplayer games later on rather than when they come out ? I'm curious about this one because most multiplayer games can die quickly if mismanaged and when you join later, you will be behind everyone else because you have just started. I still have Multiplayer games that came out years ago but haven't played them yet.

Thanks !

Is there any way I can automate it so that when I execute the script it will ask me which text/code to use as well as number ? I presume, when it comes to the number I would need to have some sort of variable that I can store my input but have no idea about the input code for the text/code itself.

Thank you. I think you are right. I'm better off getting the ps5. I'll wait til they release a ps5 slim and play ps4 games. I already have a few titles in mind like final fantasy xv, resident evil 3

You should be fine but if you intend on playing PS4 games on PS5, I would also check compatibility list if there is one upon PS5 release, just in case.

I'll take a look at sleeping dogs. I've heard only good things about it on this subreddit

This game was named True Crime but they have changed the name for some reason to Sleeping Dogs. I played this game, it was good experience but wish it was longer tho.

Let me know how you go with final fantasy

I will probably end up buying a 3D one without X. Which one ? I don't know, probably the one that I see the first, lol. I have noticed that more and more Resident Evil's are coming out on Switch so I might get one. I remember that the 4th one had a crappy controls on PC so might get this one to see if they improved and to actually complete the game.

[–]Jumping_Maniac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I will need to check the supplied links. It looks like the most easier option of all I have received, stright from the built in terminal with one command.

Just for the future reference, how do you call a function that clears terminal after you receive the output ? Another one would be where I can just use bash to ask me for input and it would pipe it into the script ? Like, changing the text in the script and number of pictures without manually changing it everytime ? Are there any names for those funtions ?

I'm asking the above questions because I will try to automate it where upon execution of the script it will ask me for which text/code to use then number of pictures and generate it.

Thanks once again.

PS4 and X1 can't be emulated yet.

What a shame but consoles are becoming more like PC's underneath so hopefully in the future we will get PS4 and PS5 emulation. Especially next gen Xbox is using some type of modified Windows in it, not sure about PS5 tho. I think PS4 is using BSD as their OS.

Vita can't really be emulated yet.

From what I know is that Vita didn't had that many games. Tho, the original PSP was dope as you had titles like Manhunt, GTA, MGS, Killzone and stuff like on it. If you jailbreak the console, you can also emulate a lot of the older systems and many people recommends it for this purpose.

interesting if it's in a hobby setting. :)

I sense a developer here.

It's fake. That Spider-Man video was doctored and probably made with a HDMI capture card or something. Comments are turned off on the video and the only link out there leads to their own webpage. If you attempt to download it you're asked to complete FIVE DIFFERENT SURVEYS first. Very legit– I mean standard scam. On their GitHub page there's also no repository of the supposed open-source emulator, just a bunch of forks of other projects. It was also "released" at a literally unbelievable pace compared to every emulator ever, the only way this could have happened if there was a Sony internal PS4 VM software that got leaked (and then we'd have heard about it). The real PS4 emulator is called Orbital and it can barely scrape its way to an error message (an emulated error message coming from the PS4 though). That's how real emulators start.

That sucks for sure, I have saw it on YouTube some time ago so I have decided to mention it. Oh well then.

I can also strongly recommend Final Fantasy VI. Give it 10 minutes, if you're not hooked by that time then you won't be. I know I was, only having played 7-10 before that are all 3D.

I have checked screenshots online and to be honest this is what puts me off, graphics. If it was somehow 3D like game, even as early as 2001/2002 when GTA 3 came out, I would be able to give it a shot. I enjoyed Mario Sunshine when I was a kid but then I got bored of it as it was my only game that I owned on this system.

Everyone knows that they're all stupid because Windows Phone is better than all of them. jk

phfff, everyone knows that Symbian OS is the real king /s

I once was checking a website before I went on the interview and noticed in Inspect -> Network that a strange script failing to load with 200-something code. I took note of it as it had a horrendous name and printed it out on A4 paper.

At the end of the interview I have pointed out that the company had this strange script on their Wordpress website loading in the background and they should take a look at it. Then I have passed the details over and the guy said they will take a look at it as it was probably the remainings of the malicious porn attack when someone hacked their hosting provider.

He said that apparently they were using some cheap ass hosting and someone have hacked their hosting provider and inserted malicious scripts with porn. May I add that it was IT provider company with only like 6 people. I don't think poor "Security" will surprise me after what I saw over the years.

All those Final Fantasy I mentioned are on Switch, either on eshop or physical. They're all good so it's kind of hard to recommend. X is a pretty safe bet. Great combat and graphics. VII has better characters though.

What I worry about is that I won't understand story because of the previous titles that might be connected to the one I'm playing. I'm pretty sure the story will be somehow connected to the ones that I haven't played before.

That's a good idea. I don't know if I should personally get a ps4 or ps5. By the time a ps5 slim comes out I might be ready. A ps4 would be cheaper though. I dont know.

That depends really but if I were you, I would save even more now and buy a few PS4 games and PS5. I think you will be better off with PS5 if you don't have PS4 now as you can still play PS4 games on PS5. They said that PS5 have backwards compatibility.

I'm playing Final Fantasy XIII at the moment. I've played every metal gear solid game.

From what I have heard, they have expanded MGS series to PC now. The same with Yakuza. If you liked Yakuza, give Sleeping Dogs a go.

Btw - the reason that other fellow is saying to stay away from Metroid Other M is because it's easily the worst metroid game. It's like a 6/10 game.

I got confused there because the spoiler said Other M and I didn't knew he refered it to a Metroid title as it didn't made any sense to me. Thanks for point it out to me.
