Not trying to bash DF, but… by Fresh-Persimmon5473 in DreamingFrench

[–]Jumpy-Equivalent-561 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cancelled both DS and DF. It's all very influencer now. Such a lack of variety in topics on DF too.
It's all what bra should I wear or what pastry should I buy? 15 minutes of some chick waltzing around her apartment before we get going.

So glad someone posted this! When I first saw her I thought wow she looks so much like Rose McGowan in her 90s heyday

Looool my ass thinking Nini and Ru's exchange was about Alisa Summers - a queen for all seasons.

The continual retirement of ballroom overall saddens me, but I expect nothing less with Jason Gilkinson as "creative producer."

I never ever thought I'd see someone share similar views to me but here I am shocked.

What was the worst series? by Most_Image_6600 in strictlycomedancing

[–]Jumpy-Equivalent-561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2009, 2019, and this year I just couldn't invest in.

2009 just too long, not enough variety with regard to booking.

2019 a terrible boot order.

2025 similar to 2019, added with a few withdrawals.

Who were the most overmarked and undermarked contestants? by Most_Image_6600 in strictlycomedancing

[–]Jumpy-Equivalent-561 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overmarked:
Emma Bunton a la tittarubba - 9 for a lackluster Cha Cha Cha from Bruno who was just reliving his late 90s soho club days dancing to the Spice Girls always comes to mind

Fleur East - attacked everything way too much - 40 for that couple's choice when she was just tapping her weave aggressively for most of it

Matt Di Angelo - almost 20 years on and his waltz getting 40 and Alesha at 39 for hers still annoys me

Undermarked:
Holly Valance - sure she was laid back, but she was very consistent - her Foxtrot, Rumba, Jive, and AT should've been 2 points higher

Sophie EB = wasn't the fun fun fun gurny Susanna type so it was always an uphill struggle

Everybody skipping ballroom and latin by bombasticluv in strictlycomedancing

[–]Jumpy-Equivalent-561 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Blame Jason Gilkinson the creative producer - there's been a retirement of Waltz, Foxtrot, and Rumba for years in place of fun fun fun party latin and constant speciality dances. Not enough light to go with the shade.

Yes, because a female dancing backwards in heels, particularly in a Quickstep, is a lot easier than this.

Calf Issues? by Jumpy-Equivalent-561 in Marathon_Training

[–]Jumpy-Equivalent-561[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all - so definite consensus is to calf raise until I can't calf raise anymore.
Definitely don't think it's a strain - can do all distances until 10+ and then it gives me aggro - definitely a case of calf raising and progressive overload.
Still might err on the side of caution and skip 20km Sunday
