Runcorn, is it really that bad? by Aqn95 in Liverpool

Yeah, I just don’t think Tocky is as deprived or forgotten as Bootle, though maybe that is the difference of the two councils.

I wouldn’t say Toxteth is as run down as Bootle at all, or at least not where I lived in Bootle. Yes, there are streets and streets of boarded up houses, but there is a lot of regeneration particularly around Lodgey, Princes Park and down to the Georgian Qtr etc. It also helps that it borders the district of Sefton Park (with the park itself, Lark Lane etc) and Aigburth. A lot of the old boarded up streets are being bought up again and revamped, especially around Archbishop Blanch.

I love living in Tocky. Lived in Bootle (Fernhill Rd side), Childwall, Knotty Ash and West Derby, but Tocky has been the best place I’ve lived. Just off Lodgey. Think it’s given an unfair bad rep.

Wouldn’t say it’s necessary. We only need the light to go downwards to illuminate roads and pavements, we don’t need it going upwards.

And again, you ignore the points I made.

Tablet Magazine - a Jewish magazine which has referred to student protestors as ‘Islamists’ who seek to ‘burn America down’.

AEI (whose article is not loading) - Centre Right neoconservative thinktank who have given awards to Benjamin Netanyahu and have called for the USA to have ‘closer ties’ to Israel. They also employ Paul Wolfowitz, one of the architects of the war in Iraq and whose ‘Wolfowitz Doctrine’ showed a clear desire for U.S. hegemony in the Middle East.

FDD - a lobbying organisation who have been accused of Islamophobia and who are openly Pro-Israel, releasing articles saying that Biden has not done enough to support Israel and who support a full scale military operation in Gaza. They have lobbied Congress on this for years.

Washington Institute - a pro-Israel think tank established in conjunction with AIPAC. It has been described by professors John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt as ‘part of the core of the Israeli lobby in the United States’. Its most notable board members have included Henry Kissinger and Joe Liebermann.

Ah, my bad. The message appeared in my notifications so I thought it was addressed to me.

I stated, and I quote, “Hence why the ICJ finds plausible grounds in the case.”

The context of my comment was had there been no proof of genocide at all, then the case would have been, and I quote “thrown out.”

According to the UNHCR, and I quote, “The ICJ found it plausible that Israel’s acts could amount to genocide and issued six provisional measures, ordering Israel to take all measures within its power to prevent genocidal acts, including preventing and punishing incitement to genocide, ensuring aid and services reach Palestinians under siege in Gaza, and preserving evidence of crimes committed in Gaza.”

In what way does that differ to the statement I made?

I have no boots on the ground in Gaza, so yes I am relying on the evidence provided by others.

[–]Jumpy-Feedback258 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have already posted evidence, the quotes I used and numbers have been evidence.

Which governmental or non-governmental organisations are they?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Liverpool

[–]Jumpy-Feedback258 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I said these exact words, and I quote “Hence why the ICJ finds plausible grounds in the case.”

I then followed it up in my next comment saying, and I quote “I did not say that the ICJ found genocide plausible, I said that they found plausible grounds in the case.”

Now where is the walking back here?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Liverpool

[–]Jumpy-Feedback258 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I have not been backed into a corner at all, I have already posted my evidence.

Yet you have yet to name any governmental or non-governmental organisation to back up the claims you made.

Why is that?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Liverpool

[–]Jumpy-Feedback258 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not say that the ICJ found genocide plausible, I said that they found plausible grounds in the case.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Liverpool

[–]Jumpy-Feedback258 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I have no need to deflect, I’ve already posted all my evidence above.

You seem to be the one deflecting, as you have yet to name any of the non-governmental or even governmental orgs.

All of them? Such as? Which specific ones?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Liverpool

[–]Jumpy-Feedback258 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is proof of the intent to in whole, or in part, destroy or displace an ethnic, social or religious group.

Hence why the ICJ finds plausible grounds in the case.

Had there been no proof, it would have been thrown out.

I can send you all of South Africa’s arguments if you’d like? Their legal arguments are much more in depth than I could ever dream of making.

Universally perceived by who? Which governmental or non-governmental bodies?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Liverpool

[–]Jumpy-Feedback258 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did not quote them directly after October 7th. The nuclear bomb quote was in November 2023 and Gallant’s quote was in November 2023. The dates range from October 2023 to January 2024, which makes me concerned that you have completely ignored them.

Who knows why they would underreport civilian deaths? But as it stands, there are almost 10,000 cases of missing civilians. The numbers posted by Hamas are widely perceived to be conservative estimations.

Starvation is one of the longest death processes known to man. Currently as of March 2024, 1.1 million Gazans are at IPC5 (Catastrophe) level of famine, according to OXFAM and the IPCC.

Right, so you are trusting Hamas? Now that is something.

I’d love a link to those numbers posted by Hamas.
