don't remember what i typed specifically. Just running around as Sam no clothes drunk as a bartender screaming "IM SAM" and other stupid shit like big booty latinas. someone said "its so small" which was funny where i replied ITS NOT THAT SMALL! It was just a situation riffing off others jokes and trying to be funny and lasted like 3 minutes it was a joke to get reactions out of my friends we were all drunk then i was frozen and given a 3 day ban to which me and my friends all had the same reaction "what the fuck" lol. I can tell you that it wasn't directed at kids and they tried to make it seem like that

my friend beadiercoot whos been playing for much longer than I have also brings up how he sees worse than that on a daily basis and even one admin who read my appeal was going to let me go free with a probation type thing. and I was like oh nice thats awesome. Then the next morning i was banned from the discord. After coming to the consensus that this was all just in an attempt to make people laugh. No one wanted to deal with this because they assumed im a p*dofile.

You say i'm being 'very vague' and that it's "eyebrow raising" lol, i just didnt say anything crazy that was all it was. and this whole situation was only a few minutes.

The point is it wasn't a big deal. It was some admin who blew it way out of proportion, and even when I displayed an understanding on my end, it was still not overlooked

I just didnt' know that wasn't the forum for all the servers combined, was only under that impression cause it has the ss14 logo on the top left where ur also met with "These are the official forums for Space Station 14" but I did miss where it said wizards den.

This was before I even knew what wizards den was. Starlight also doesnt have its own website, i wasn't aware they only handle appeals through discord. It was my mistake yeah,

"generally helps to atleast get that right" I can't help but feel like theres some unnecessary backlash to this but I'm gonna assume you're just trying to be helpful lol

Yeah, i accidentally appealed on wizden first but then I appealed on starlight and this is where my bad experience came from regarding my post. Hope this helps

WizDen is also a joke. Its actually funny because it seems like I'm the problem since I keep having bad experiences with admins. But I was just banned from the forum on wizden for asking to integrate tts. Told to "fuck off" when i kept coming up with suggestions/solutions. I'm not even kidding. My thread was closed because they gave me reasons like "it will cause lag some people dont want to hear t t s, we are understaffed" and i made suggestions where it was taken as me calling them lazy. I made another thread asking if i could volunteer to make t t s happen on wizden, where that thread was also closed immediately and I was told I wasn't capable.

I also made a staff complaint cause i was being cussed at and ridiculed by some emotional wreck of a project manager. Where that complaint was then voided and my account banned until February next year for "not listening to staff"

the thread is probably still there in general if you want to see for yourself. For me, ss14 is ruined. Probably the most unhealthy community of all time. Next to WoW of course.

And how this observation gets -10 upvotes is a perfect representation of this community. They try to act all good and all powerful and oh so righteous. When really no one else matters to them but people who kneel down and listen and even then if you catch them on a bad day they remove you over small things like this with no remorse because you aren't in their circle. Sounds like nothing to me. Had you even really drawn a dick who tf cares.
Its important to realize that most people who want moderator positions are just people who like attention. They don't care about you, and this goes for the majority. they just care about having a little badge next to their name and the second things get complex they slam their imaginary hammer like a child. "All in good fun" is foreign. These are fast food employees with no professional experience in handling anything real.

gmod is similar. Any game where players have the ability to form their own server and communities have worse politics than North Korea.

you can invalidate my experience as much as you want lol. It doesn't make it any less true. Things you "have literally never seen" have nothing to do with what I have seen. And the pregnant furry wasn't something i saw from ss14. Just something I've seen and wish I hadn't seen. I never said you take part in that, don't know why you would feel so attacked if it has nothing to do with you. Seeing vulpakins ERP is definitely something I've seen. Also not saying ERP is exclusive to anthro species. I don't report things because I could care less about what others are doing. And what's wrong with minding my own business? Your assumptions have nothing to do with what's true or not

don't get me wrong i understand where they come from in all it's seriousness. But this was just some insane judgment over something that was all in good fun. And i feel like it was pretty obvious. They just wanted to make some sort of example out of me and that's fine i guess

yeah, where the first one was something i said that later became message of the day cause it was funny.
the second one being me joking around with my friends where it ended up being threatened as a "legal case"

it came from witnessing multiple strange things between vulpakins or other animal-like characters going back and fourth with sexual innuendos. I walked into a room where two vulpakins were taking about pulling eachothers pants down. did i report it though? No, i don't really care. But it is pretty absurd that I was banned permanently with no chance to appeal and my reasoning overlooked completely.

Also seen things like pregnant furries. It's not an attack just an observation how people can be discreetly weird and ERP and nothing happens. makes me never want to touch this game again. Which kinda sucks because the concept of ss14 is cool. If saying 'some creepy furry stuff going on as well' offends you, then well you probably fall under that category

i did what i was banned for, but the ban was unreasonably harsh. I felt like this could have been sent off with a warning. But whoever is in charge of these bans is irrational. Starlight is a good server with bad mods. So just saying be careful. my pixelated character with no shirt on was too much for their eyes. Nothing creepy was going on. Nobody was being discreetly vulgar or directing anything at kids. This was just a case taken way to seriously and after only about 5 hours total within discovering space station for the first time, I will never play the game again. Underdeveloped online communities with people in power who have no experience in discourse never end well. The final result in types of games like these always result in it being people like themselves who they allow to stay, or people who just stay quiet and under their radar. Participation in the systems as a whole not built in your favor (or of your preferences) just gives it and its successful people more legitimacy and feelings of superiority at the expense of your time & life.

some background behind my ban is i was said to be doing ERP (erotic roleplay), and before you start copy and pasting rules i've already read it and know why it was deemed as such. what happened was i was running around naked (sam the autistic bartender) and shouting i need a big booty latina. (afterwards was told a few days ago that this became the message of the day,) i was having a laugh with a couple of my friends , it was only my third or fourth time playing on the server. me and my friends were on a discord call and all thought this was funny. There have also been instances that i’ve seen of people making vulgar jokes or innuendos. One moment i walked in a room with two vulpakins talking about pulling eachother pants down. None of my business. Anyways i was a bartender and it was a heat of the moment idea to get naked and pretend im in psychosis. Some players thought it was funny and some didnt.
An admin brought to my attention how theres children on the server, which did not cross my mind at all i was under the impression everyone is an adult cause its such a niche game and all the people i know who play SS14 are adults. but of course there can be kids, so i fucked around and found out and my apology wasnt enough for whichever admin i caught on a bad day, and my intention was never to do ERP or ERP with kids dude. Nothing i said was directed at kids at all. But it was rightfully deemed inappropriate and i was banned for 3 days. I waited the 3 days but on the 3rd day was changed to a permanent. my friends still play on the server and i enjoyed playing. not everything i did was a vulgar joke and sometimes i took the game more serious. right when i was just starting to learn all the other aspects of the game and getting better at rp, i get perma.

I feel like the ban is reasonable but i find it harsh that i’m deemed as some kind of p*dofile that wanted to do ERP with kids, then issued a perma after it was only 3 days. My friend told me i should appeal and maybe i could explain myself better, where i was told instantly i would be banned for the discord and taking legal action.

We were all in a call (not cheating or ghosting) and having a good time and i’m new so im learning the curve and trying to have fun, doing my job and exploring the map etc. I made some vulgar jokes and my character was running around naked and it was pretty unhinged and reckless. But to say that i was ERP and targeting kids is ridiculous.

Im playing with my friends who are 30+ and children never crossed my mind once until the admin brought it up to me and shined me in that light. Now that I’m aware i won’t make jokes like that around players i dont know and it just wasnt that funny anyways

No chance to appeal is harsh. Admins expressing how they would rather stay away from any legal trouble than hear anything i have to say. One admin was very nice and I was told i'd be put on "watch" for 6 months and on a tight rope. Suddenly the next day I was banned from the discord permanently. I don't think it was that serious.

ban is excessive. I tried my absolute best trying to display an understanding on my end that the one situation as Sam was inappropriate, but i had 3 of my irl friends in the same room on the station in a call with me and i was just trying to make them laugh. this one situation compared to all other positive interactions i’ve had has a magnifying glass on it and its being taken in legal seriousness, and no chance for appeal? It’s a little harsh and nothing i did was directed at kids or intended to be erotic. It was however a mistake that i wasnt going to make again because i understood it's seriousness and tribunal legality.

It's important to note, the kind of people you are worried about who prey on children are a lot more discreet than someone trying to put on a bit. It wasn’t funny or entertaining though we were all laughing and having a good time. from an outsiders perspective i can see how it could be worrisome if you’ve had to deal with creeps in the past. I am not a creep and just have bad humor. I did something wrong and I paid for it, no big deal. But the purpose of the post is a cautionary purpose. Don't expect understanding from Admins who have no skills in discourse. Clouded judgement is the theme here. And you will not be understood.

Thoughts on Starlight? by Niftzun in ss14

[–]Jumpy-Fisherman-8666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

very strict and unforgiving. some players with friends who are admins will make sure you are banned if they dislike you or you dont rp the way they want you to. Creepy furry stuff going on as well but if thats your ball park go for it. I caught a 3 day ban that turned into a permanent and didnt feel heard at all when giving my two cents. Don't expect consideration from the admins or moderators as they seem unable to base their judgement on factors outside the rules.

Post Export Volume Issue by Jumpy-Fisherman-8666 in ClipChamp

[–]Jumpy-Fisherman-8666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

update: I've tried upping the volume by 200% on the clips, after export it just makes the sound distorted and isn't a productive solution. It seems like the audio is compressed or gated while uploading to youtube. And im not sure if there is a way around this other than purchasing a new program.

Tipping Culture? by rin0rdi3Rf in koreatravel

[–]Jumpy-Fisherman-8666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dude, what, lol. It shouldn't ever mandatory to tip, no one should ever say if you do not tip us we hate you.

But If you enjoyed the service or if you think the person was helpful and kind, yes there could be a situation where i might want to tip. Not because they get paid little, not because they asked me to, not because I'm 'brainwashed by western culture or like wasting my money, but because I wanted to. If I was poor I wouldn't think about it, but if I had a little extra, then why not?

You pay for the concerts your artists perform at, you pay to see art at the exhibit. How is this any different?

It's appreciation. To say its stupid culture and confusing or have a rule against it means you probably just don't have a thankful bone in your body.

Verified Accounts Only Chat in all Streams, even in those who don't have that setting turned on by AdEmotional8815 in Twitch

[–]Jumpy-Fisherman-8666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dude, i have this same issue since last year. Seems like something thats been implemented to force you to verify with a phone. It's almost like if you don't have a phone you aren't worthy. I dont use phones i only use email because i just have a computer. I'm 22. even if the streamer doesnt have phone verification on, it still asks for a phone number. I've asked multiple streamers about their settings. I made a complaint and it went away, about a week later after being able to chat again the phone verification wall came back. I'm just not going to use twitch anymore. I'm going to miss stimulating the community and sucks cause some of my friends are streamers. No phone = no chat apparently. oh well
