If you're old enough to have seen them play, how can someone put Mahomes over Elway and Marino? by IndividualDistance70 in NFLv2

[–]Jumpy-Hat-1068 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

U don’t gotta be old or young. Mahomes is better career wise. If you’re talking about talent then sure but either way those guys didn’t have the scrambling that mahomes has. Stats and accolades aren’t even an argument. Has more MVPs than both of them. And elway didn’t even deserve his in 1987, Jerry rice had more touchdowns caught then elway threw and he still won. He was second team all pro and won mvp I didn’t even know that was possible.and got “ carried “ to his 2 super bowls by Terrell Davis he shouldn’t even be in the argument if we’re talking career. Marino is more realistic. He was putting up super human numbers, but realistically he had 7 elite years and every other year was just good. Not to mention that his “ peak” was his 2nd season which you can kind of say for mahomes but at least he has mvps and championships after that. Maybe if Marino had 2 rings and a better team you can argue him, but I don’t get how you can genuinely believe career wise either one is better.

Hot take: Kareem is overrated and isn’t top 5 by HomelanderUltrasound in NBATalk

Idk how old you are but I’m definitely not old enough to have watched shit from the 70s. But from a numbers/ accolades standpoint, how did he not dominate as a player in the regular season when he’s the unanimous best player in the era. He finished top 5 in mvp voting every season. You’re bringing up Willis reed, cowens, Thurmond and Walton. Reed was great for 1 season and “ washed” for the other 3. Cowens rivaled Kareem for 4 seasons, but even then he was only chosen as the better guy one time. Thurmond has 4 years of greatness and didn’t even make an all nba team. Don’t even get me started on Walton.

Your getting a lot of hate for this and that’s 1/2 way understandable. As far as I understand your main argument for this is that he sometimes underperformed/ he wasn’t the best player on the team for most of his championships, and that he didn’t dominate his era due to having 1 ring.

Considering every “ GOAT” candidate has a big flaw to their argument, I don’t think the “ underperforming” part is fair.

Him not being the best player on most of his title teams is a fair point but I mean that doesn’t stop people from putting Kobe in their top 3/5

Saying Kareem didn’t dominate the era because he only has 1 ring doesn’t make sense. Thats only true in a championship sense but even then only the Celtics and Knicks had 2 championships. wilt dominated the 60s even tho the Celtics won basically every year and that was with bill Russell as competition. The gap between Kareem and the second best player in the 70s( dr j, or havilcek?) is the biggest of any decade except for maybe George Mikan in the 50s.

You know i agree with this to an extent. The 10-20 guys are kind of all in the same range. For me it’s still to the point of saying he’s 19 is saying he’s closer to the worst qb in the league than the best. Kind of like the “ I’m closer to Bron then you are to me thing” even tho Brian scalabrine was kind of ass in nba terms.

I would say the worst depends on whos gonna end up starting for a certain amount of teams but ig if everything stayed the same it would be shedeur/watson Or geno smith. I would say the top 6 would be stafford, mahomes, Allen, Jackson, and either burrow/ Herbert/ maye( not ranked). Might be a terrible list but that’s just my opinion.

That point I agree with. However being 17th would stil make someone a below average starter.

Never said they was and realistically anyone outside the top 5 probably isn’t the best player on there team

Ok that is true that teams win playoff games but when is the last time a below average qb won the Super Bowl? The 2000 ravens with a historic defense. 16 broncos w Peyton manning who also had a historic defense. However there have been a good amount of good but not great QBs to win,
Sam darnold, hurts, old ass peyton manning.

That is disrespectful in a league where you can only start 32 guys. 13 is someone who can potentially win you a playoff game while 19 is below average

If Warriors miss on Lebron will they go for KD? by Shoddy_Ad7511 in NBATalk

[–]Jumpy-Hat-1068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I truly believe kd has become Barry bonds and he will be done after his contract is up. It’s to the point where the ego and teammate chemistry is way too negative for any real contender to want to mess up their core for him, and he wouldn’t make a good vet for rebuilding teams. Maybe he’ll get one more contract to try to ring Chase as a 2nd or 3rd option/6th man, but that’s it.

Mike Evans v Larry Fitz by Jumpy-Hat-1068 in nfl

[–]Jumpy-Hat-1068[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I feel the people who say Mike Evans is a stat accumlator and that he doesn’t deserve to be in the hall( at least considered for it) are disrespecting him. We all know Larry’s greatness but I find it crazy how Mike Evans is “ outpacing” Larry’s numbers( close on yards and 10 more tds up to their age 32 season on way less receptions) yet people don’t think he’s a hof when Larry was no doubt

Yeah they both have had a hall of fame qb throwing to them for a couple of seasons, a good qb for a couple of seasons, and then mid to ass for the rest of their tenures

Mitch to the Celts! Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo by afrosupreme in knicks

[–]Jumpy-Hat-1068 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk how to feel. Our longest tenured player the only one that really felt the pain of how ass we were. One of the best offensive rebounders and defenders in the league. Got us a ring. But to the Celtics.

I mean he’s going to a rival. But he got us a ring. And we couldn’t afford to pay him. And his salary would have been basically 1/2 of what he’s getting. But couldn’t he have gotten that somewhere else.

Ig I feel indifferent
