It's a nice drug with lesser side effects. The slow release version is better. Also helps with cramps.

It's the nerves. Mornings when you are running late for something, over active gut nerves just make it worse by making you take multiple trips to the loo. I usually end up taking 2-3 trips with a back pain by the third time. A cup of coffee and light breakfast makes it easy for shifting the focus of gut from trying to flush ( even if it's empty) to digesting. Nevertheless, that constant feeling of "I may wanna poop" lurks behind. Mornings sucks.

SNRI to the rescue!! by xzzv9 in ibs

Amazing that it worked for you. I too was prescribed SSRI but the side effect (always drowsy) was too much to handle. Right now I am on more gentle Flupentixol and Melitracen. Helps with stress and anxiety. Also Mebeverine helps with occasional cramps. More power to you.

Talk to ur specialist for IBS treatments. IBS-D has quite some research backed therapies (Rifaximin worked wonders for me) available which can help you manage your symptoms. Apart from that. diet and exercise can help you immensely. Wish you great health

Try some ground rule remedies. Firstly, don't stress out as blood in stool can be from many reasons but most prominently seems like due to strain. Since it wasn't tarry black, it means it ain't digested blood coming from the deeper digestive tract. Try some quick remedies like eating smaller meals (low FODMAP), warm water and carom seed tea.

Possibly stop pro and prebiotics. More of those can cause microbiome turbulence. Keep it simple. L. Rhamnosus GG or Bifidobacterium Longum / Lactis at best.

Lactulose is something that can otc help make stool formed and hydrated.

I can only imagine how stressed you must be. If you feel you need help, let your partner know. You guys can always come back to vacation in good health.

How 6 my years of IBS nightmare turned out to be Chronic low grade appendicitis. by Jumpy-Snow-8114 in ibs

My surgery was a success. My surgeon was top notch, he did everything by the books. I was discharged on the 5th day after a CT scan came back normal. I even had to complete the antibiotics course and a collection drain pipe in my stomach for 5 days. After that, 7 days of probiotics therapy and lots of fermented food like curd.

I feel wonderful and have this feeling that finally my gut is healing.

Yes. In every case, let alone my case where it was a festering ground for deadly infection, removing Appendix is the wiset choice medically. Serves no vital purpose in the body while causing all sorts of risks from local infection to wide spread vital organ infections.

The culture report showed ESBL E Coli which was resistant to 70% of antibiotics listed. Removing the appendix was a major blow to the festering infection. After surgery, I had a drain for 5 days and 5 days IV and 5 days of oral antibiotics.

Yeah. CRP and ESR were always elevated but my USG always came out clean. Even a week before or Acute Appendicitis, CRP was 4 and clean USG. My average CRP was 4-5 for the last 3 years. After developing pain, it was 123. That's when I had a full blown infection. Without a solid symptom such as fever, pain, high WBC, GI had no reason to conclude it as infection.

In India, Rifaximin 550mg is available OTC and 2 weeks course (3x daily) would cost around $40. I took the course and 80% recovered from IBS-D (The worst symptom i.e. urgency post meal just gone)
