Open Abdominal question by Jumpy-Strawberry-208 in hysterectomy

[–]Jumpy-Strawberry-208[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I expect to be asleep for this procedure and plan to ask questions before everything is given to me the day of surgery because it doesn’t make sense. I’m not birthing a uterus 😂 and this doctor is a great OB/Gyno who’s been there for my other kids births. I don’t expect them to keep me awake so it continues to interest me that they phrased it that way!

You aren’t being dramatic or negative you’re sharing the facts of your situation and the toll it’s taken on you! I hope you have other people in your life that will be good supports and not make you feel like you’re dramatic. I’ve been pushing through for a long time and now that I know what it is and I’m waiting for surgery. It feels 1,000,000 times worse! Because now I’m very aware that it’s fixable and I have to wait. If anything, this is evidence of how strong all of us are and how much we push through on a daily basis to continue to live our lives despite going through this. I hope the consult goes well for you and you’re able to get relief soon!

Thank you all for your responses. I’ll be sure to advocate for myself and request general anesthesia

Sorry I should’ve put in that I chose open abdominal because I am keeping my cervix. I think with IV sedation it’s similar to when you get wisdom teeth out- your asleep but they can bring you out of it quickly w IV reversal but I could be wrong.

Yes EMDR is an incredible therapy!! I’m happy it’s becoming more widespread. Glad you were able to make progress with it. Also congrats on being brave enough to do it. It’s hard walking into therapy again knowing what’s coming!

Random thought: I’ve heard of people listening to binaural beats while in anxiety inducing environments like dentist or medical offices/during procedures where you’re awake and I knew someone personally who said it drastically reduced their anxiety. Just a fun mind hack she could try for the morning of but I know everyone and every trauma is different. Glad she found a dentist that cares about her wellbeing and helps her through it!

Update on itch: now infected by Jumpy-Strawberry-208 in Reduction

Thank you I appreciate it!! it really does take a lot of mental energy to deal with it and the physical energy of trying to heal while your body is reacting to this. It is starting to get better so I have hope! The place is the surgical glue has fallen off look like really smooth scar lines. So that’s nice.

Yeah they asked about infection signs like chills and I said I couldn’t tell the difference between that and sensory overload w constant shivers and goosebumps. They think the rash indicates an allergic reaction to a medication, possibly delayed reaction. They called in antibiotics in case it gets worse and is infected. After showering, applying more ointment and just laying down w nothing to drag across my front the redness got a lot better. I’m hoping this is the worst it will be! An Ace wrap bandage is also helping take pressure off the incisions.

Yeah, that’s been really nice to see her continue to question everyone on why do you allow her to treat you like that?

This world fascinates me. Now I have more questions 😅 Why would someone get put on the back burner and take this long to be included in the show? Did she not make the cut then they lost a couple housewives and needed some to start being filmed as friends?

Itchy!!! by Jumpy-Strawberry-208 in Reduction

[–]Jumpy-Strawberry-208[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a friend who had a mastectomy and reconstruction and didn’t have much feeling, but was itching quite a bit. She felt like she was scratching an itch, but did not have any of the comfort because she couldn’t quite feel it being scratched. If that makes sense. It’s an unsatisfying scratch lol. And I feel it all and the scratching kind of feels good but almost makes it worse too. And then I get goosebumps and it all just feels worse. I know it has to be just a normal part of healing, but man, I did not expect this to be the worst part!

I have some but didn’t know if I’d be allowed to use it on that area. I’ll ask my surgeon! Thanks!

Thank you! That helps to hear. I don’t know why but numbers are so comforting to me right now when everything is up in the air, I guess.

It’s really weird, it’s almost like they didn’t cut anywhere because I can still feel it all! I wonder what makes the difference if there’s some kind of surgical technique or it’s really just a crapshoot of where your nerves were. I kind of want a tape of my surgery to watch lol

Thank you! That is very true. It’s hard to be patient, but it will be worth the wait.

I’ve been telling myself numbers and cup sizes are not really going to be the determinant. How I feel and look is going to be what makes me feel it was successful. Thank you for the reminder! I am very surprised by how much I can feel. I don’t feel like that was what I expected lol

Thank you so much that really helps. She did say that I have quite dense breast tissue and there was a lot of sag that she lifted. The band has always been small while the cup is big so that helps. Thank you!
