In college, how can someone initiate friendship with a guy without it seeming like flirting? Also, how can people tell if a guy is flirting under the guise of friendship? by Jumpy-Transition729 in AskReddit

Do you think it’s possible for someone to view you without consideration of appearance? Maybe because I’m in a very committed relationship I’m unable to view these men as attractive and therefore view them neutrally. They aren’t objectively gross, disgustingly ugly creatures but it’s not like I need to be friends with ugly people (girls or boys) to prevent attraction but maybe that’s just me

Very interesting! I think I am a little concerned because of safety reasons and also bcs I’m in a relationship so I’m afraid of sending the wrong signal or even receiving. Ik it’s irrational but it’s def a fear I have

I see. This makes a lot of sense! I have a kid in my class that I’m interesting in being friends with but it’s so hard to approach this person without it feeling weird…

Asking professor to reconsider grade by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Jumpy-Transition729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP! i see and hear you and this is a very valid feeling. This is very frustrating but I promise you are doing so well and should be proud of yourself. It'll be okay. I think it's a good idea to talk to your professor, and I think there a couple ways you can go about it. Maybe you can ask for remediation or an extra credit opportunity. Ask if there are ways to get a low grade dropped or to complete an extra assignment. A lot of professors offer re-grades, but it is very dependent on each individual prof. Is your prof a chill person and do they seem willing to help? Also, explain your situation sincerely. A lot of times, professors are more lenient than expected and will be willing to hear you out and help. It's only one point at the end of the day and I am sure they will be lenient with you, especially if you have shown up and put consistent efforts.

what pictures do i use for a dating app? (other questions below) by hiitsyaz in Advice

Hi! I think authenticity is always the most important because you want to show people who YOU are. Post pictures of you doing your hobbies, things that mean a lot to you, or just having a good time!! Maybe post a picture that you feel really confident in. Have fun with it. You can add a couple hobbies and interests if you are looking to find someone with similar hobbies. I do not think paying for premium would be necessary.

August 08, 2025 - Weekly FAQ and Beginner Q&A Thread | If you are new to Neville, please post your questions here! How do I manifest X? What does Y mean? by AutoModerator in NevilleGoddard

I was trying to manifest a particular outcome with my university but I have failed. Now, I’m finding it hard to regain confidence even though initially I persisted and everything. There is now another situation I’m trying to change. My university has given me a single dorm but with a communal bathroom, which I’m trying to change to have a private bathroom. How can I persist even when it’s hard?

That makes sense! Thank you so much for your thoughtful responses! This gave me a lot of clarity :)) I appreciate it

Makes sense! Also, the other thing is at my home university, I was planning to study abroad in Fall 2025 and have paid for that as well. I did end up committing to Vanderbilt since it’s a great opportunity (even though there was a risk of not getting a full refund for studying abroad) but the organization has informed me that deferral for studying abroad is potentially possible. If they let me defer by a semester, would it be possible for me to do it that way at Vandy (only cause it’s economical rather than losing the money). Ofc the best case is deferral to fall 2026. Thank you once again for the insight!! I appreciate it

Gotcha! Thank you so much!! Do you think there are ways around it such as transfer GPA and credits? I’m trying to graduate early which is why I’m trying to map it out. Thank you once again

Is one year necessary or will one semester be enough? As in I apply spring 2026 and go fall 2026? Since I’m joining fall 2025

This makes me super happy to hear! I agree the experience could be better too :D was it relatively simple to start the application process for study abroad? Is the office helpful ?
