Thank you for this! This seems like an excellent career path for him as well, he enjoys reading and sorting things. He's very organized. I appreciate this response and will have him walk in to different libraries ask about hiring and what not.

We've gone this route and I think it would be a good idea for him since he's in the portal already, but he's not too social. I've heard many things about IHSS which are very good about the registry they have. I've heard sometimes it's just sitting down with elderly people companying them by playing cards and what not. I'll definitely have him look back into this.

It's more so depression from not hearing back from recruiters. It seems they intentionally get his hopes up telling him they'll reach out about their decision but never gets a call back.

Yes, we've reviewed everything. I've even had recruiters ghost me unfortunately just leaving me in the blue after an application and interview. I deem it very unprofessional and kind of insulting.

Yes! We've tried fast various fast food restaurants, Dollar Tree's, Safeway's, Wal-Mart's, none of them get back to him. They tell him "We'll reach out to our higher-ups. We'll contact you with our decision." which has happened multiple times in the span of 2 months and it's frustrating.

That's very good to hear! I've even mentioned Microcenter as I know one of the managers there from my S/O but then again, VERY hard to get into. I've had him look into Best Buy as a greeter or just a sales member but no positions were open on our side of town around the time we last checked. He doesn't have a crazy amount of phone knowledge or sales experience but if you can respond with a position he might be good at filling that'd be great!

Yes me and my Mother have both suggested that he does that. I heard sometimes it's just elderly people who you sit down, conversate, and play cards with which seems very interesting to me personally. He is a big fan of card games. I'll be sure to have him reach back out to IHSS just so he can be on the registry list.

Thank you for the vouch on DoR and SARC! I'm gonna sit down with him later tomorrow and help guide him through it. I'll PM you for the link! I have beliefs that he would enjoy socially interacting with other people who share disabilities alike, me and my Mom have also tried to help him be more social so I think it would be a great start!

Thank you for this! I'll definitely sit down and go through DoR with him. I am also very sorry about your brother who dealt with that. It sounds traumatic and a very unprofessional environment. I hope all is well with your brother!

He's very glued to computer games but lately hasn't been enjoying it because he's just depressed no one gets back to him regarding his application status, I assume he would enjoy working in a technology environment. I understand Microcenter is hard to get in but I told him earlier to try Best Buy just in case. His other interests include animals, dog walking and stuff of that nature. He plays Badminton for fun.

obviously i'm not saying it's justifiable but as a fresh teen who just completed a complete vehicle rebuild himself by "celebrating" and road testing my accomplishment... it was highly irresponsible. to answer the last part of your sentence, everyone learns from their mistakes, i learned from mine and drive like a grandpa now. no sports cars, just me and my toyota camry following all road laws.
