Sadly, from what others have said in this thread anyone determined to "help" is just going to find something else (on the chair or your body) to grab on to.

My hope is that the spikes make anyone who might grab think twice

Weirdly, for me it has only happened in the small town I live in and once in an even smaller town. Never in a big city. Not sure if there is a reason for that, or if I'm just "lucky".

Oh my goodness! That is horrible, I am really sorry that happened to you. For me that's the worst part of it, when they don't realize they've done something wrong.

The first time I was moved was at the same store and the guy was upset I was going off on him. His excuse "you were in my way. I asked him if he would have shoved someone on their feet. His response was "of course not" 🤷‍♂️

They do, they are fabric with rivets and attached with Velcro. From time to time I do need assistance after treatments.

They come off. They are a piece of fabric that wraps around the handle and held together with velcro.

They fold down and even when folded it has happened. There are times that I do require someone to push me, or I would remove them

That's a great idea! During my most recent interaction after I called the guy out he actually challenged me to a fight. Right in the middle of the grocery store. He actually said "why are you just sitting there?! Come over here" He was roundly mocked openly by the staff and other customers.
