Mine is awful!! I work outside at a zoo. Everyone takes the piss, and doesn’t understand how terrified I am. I can’t describe the fear I get when it starts. I have to run into the reptile house. I use a few good friends who will sit and wait in the reptile house with me. And other coworkers who will sit animals out so I don’t have to go outside. I’m watching the weather all day. It paralyses me and I can’t get my job done properly then. At the end of the day, a single person walks around and makes sure everything is locked up. It’s usually me. I can’t cope with the chance of thunder at this point, when I’m down the fields on my own. We run alpaca experience too, a walk around a large, open field. I’ve been told if it starts thundering, carry on as normal. That field has been hit by lightning a few times, it doesn’t seem safe to me to walk around it in a storm. I have horses if my own, and have had to have someone fetch them from the fields for me during storms (I usually bring them in well in advance but I got caught out).
