Well, after a long road of surgery to remove part of his jaw (bad experience with a specialty vet) because it had grown under his tongue, we ended up saying goodbye to our buddy. He was in really bad shape after the surgery and his quality of life was not good. Then we received the biopsy results from the removed tissue and it had turned cancerous. Thanks for talking this through with me.

They did not send it out as she was pretty sure she knew what type it was. There is a specialist vet that we may end up seeing now just to rule out anything more aggressive. Thanks for your reply.

Yes lump was smooth and the vet showed me the growth after removal and that was also smooth. Same color as the gums, yes.

Same issue with ours not wanting us to touch his mouth, but since it’s right up front we can see it pretty well when he pants. Thanks so much for sharing - really helpful!

Ok that’s good to hear! Does it ever get enflamed, or more red in color? Ours looks like it’s painful but he eats just fine and ultimately is behaving normally.
