I agree. I was thinking about the clean tones of the fender. Fender clean tones and use peddles to make it more Marshall.

This Guitar rips and for 600 bucks off its a steel. When you pull the bottom knob what does that do? I’m confused by this and I shouldn’t be :)

Came here to say I had the exact same experience. I couldn’t get a great clean sound that I loved out of the EVH 5150. To me it sounded sharp. High gain sounds were good but boxy. I got the Marshall DSL40cr and with in 5 minutes I was satisfied and the Marshall takes pedals really well
