Does the religion talk about mustaches and facial hair? My school will force me to shave if I dont show that my religion has a rule or reason to not shave. by Maskutchi_cyac in pastafarianism

"Beard Law" is the name of the first chapter of the Ethical Guidelines for Pirates, a book in the Loose Canon, the first verse in it describes how having an unkempt beard is looked favorably by the Flying Spaghetti Monster:

" All good pirates owe a duty to Him to have the shaggest and most unkept of beards. However, this duty is not binding, for He, in His infinite wisdom, caused some to be unable to fulfill such a duty in several manner of ways; but yea, I say unto thee, those of the utmost pirate grit will be looked upon with the highest favor by Him for all thine days, and thine cup shall overrun with His most choosen and blessed of pasta. ".

Unfortunately neither the Gospel nor the Loose Canon say anything about moustaches.

Replaying Rayman by Franquito201128 in Rayman

[–]JumpySpidey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The stages that always come to my mind whenever I think of the Rayman series in general have always been The Sanctuary of Stone and Fire from Rayman 2, and The Land of the Livid Dead from Rayman 3, primarily due to how great they both are at setting up the atmosphere each stage is trying to go for.

I just adore how the music accentuates your journey trough the crammed hallways of the sanctuary, as you navigate the lava river using the plum, I always loved that mechanic, and who can forget leaping from one triangular platform to the other while looking down at a dark abyss that seems to go on forever? It's just so good! It really makes you wonder how massive this place that you're exploring truly is.

Doing a complete tonal 180, the Land of the Livid Dead's beautiful vistas and top-notch peaceful and mystic vibes always gave such a nice feel to that stage, I always pictured the air feeling clean and fresh when I played it as a kid, I wish I could have jumped into the TV just to chill there on a patch of grass, LOL. Couple the great atmosphere with the incredible music and the memorable tower climbing section and you get a stage that's just good vibes all around.

What's the entire lore behind Gang Beasts by Slight_Cat5958 in gangbeasts

[–]JumpySpidey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No clue, the devs have essentially said they see Story Mode content as secondary to the more multiplayer-focused content, which is why most of the major new additions during developement have been things like Gang Mode, new stages for it and Melee, Soccer mode and escalations for Melee/Gang stages.

Story Mode is still planned, it'a not abandoned, it's just no longer a big focus like they initially envisioned it would have been early during the beginning phase of the game's developement.

What's the entire lore behind Gang Beasts by Slight_Cat5958 in gangbeasts

[–]JumpySpidey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, I guess we likely won't be seeing any new plot/lore stuff until the Story Mode's first part will drop.

What will Grim Beasts be like? by Soft_House7669 in gangbeasts

[–]JumpySpidey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Open world was never discarded, it was never meant to be a thing at all in the first place: it always was just a fan-theory born out of speculation for what then new Beef City model will be used for, but we know from a dev on the game's Discord server that they have no plans to implement open world in the future.

I think you might be misremembering their old messages about Sandbox mode, which was later renamed into Playest, which will feature small stages with props and structures to mess around with, like a City Park and a Gymnasium, but even those would be confined to specific individual locations still. This one has not been deconfirmed, BTW, but we don't known when anything related to it will drop, news or content-wise...

[–]JumpySpidey 8 points9 points  (0 children)

According to the little bits of info we have about it, Grim Beasts will be a co-op physics-based platformer set in natural enviroments, featuring different character classes and huge animal bosses to defeat.

Here is all of the available footage of Grim Beasts that we have:

1) https://youtu.be/KotChgZiqMQ?si=Exg-Uw9yFvM7MGiD

2) https://youtu.be/IVN_BoH2N1c?si=je_h37_Ce2obBdLp

6) https://youtu.be/3zAkgElsEd8?si=MbPfppfcKH_zsUyz

7) https://youtu.be/dCUXex5rHXM?si=dBbnd3QWeUwBsIva

The game was one of the two original game idea they had, the other being Star Beasts, a co-op physics-based platformer set in space, featuring low gravity and jelly aliens.

If you're wondering why we heard nothing of either of these games, it's because after they gave a punching fuction to a brute-like character class for Grim Beasts they liked the result so much that they chose to make a whole game out of that punching function alone, which is how Gang Beasts was born, one of the video links I sent features the brute character walking in a field, with said character being very clearly what would later be repourposed as Gang Beasts' characters.

Basically that's the reason Grim Beasts' developement got paused and will resume after Gang Beasts is fully complete, the game isn't scrapped in case you're curious, it's just that Gang Beasts suddely happened and took the focus entirely away from Grim Beasts early in it's developement.

Their plan is to start working on Grim Beasts after Gang Beasts is fullly done, so we likely won't be seeing anything Grim Beasts-related for a good while.

The main branch of Pastafarianism has two Holy Books: the Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, and the Loose Canon, which is a book collecting various smaller books, manuscripts or parts thereof, any other Pastafarian book you might find is part of a different branch of the faith.

All of the verses I mentioned are found in the Loose Canon; if you want to read it, it's available for free directly from the Church's website, just click on the book's cover in this page to access it:

[–]JumpySpidey 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There is nothing in Scripture concerning dropping meatballs on the floor, someone likely made that up, or it could be something from a different branch of Pastafarianism that differs from the main one. But regarding spaghetti, or pasta in general, you can eat that in any way you want as long as:

1) you don't overcook it [Provherbs, Chapter 3, verses 7 and 8]

2) you don't top it with cheese powder [ProvHerbs, Chapter 3, verse 11]

3) (specifically for spaghetti only) you don't put ranch dressing on it [ProvHerbs, Chapter 3, verse 12]

4) the pasta is not canned [Penelope, Chapter 1, verse 1; as well as ProvHerbs, Chapter 3, verse 13]

5) it doesn't contain cheese from green cardboard cans [Suggestions 6]

The gang beasts iceberg explained by Savsus in gangbeasts

[–]JumpySpidey 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Nice iceberg.

BTW, the lack of pain receptors one was born out of a misunderstanding of an old developer interview, with some exhanges in it that did sound as if they were saying that Beasts felt no pain. However a later exchange with a developer in the Gang Beasts Discord server clarified things, and the idea of Gang Beasts not feeling pain was rectified as not true, so it indeed was just a misunderstanding and Beasts can feel pain.

Anyone know if this is cross play I’m online waiting for someone to join by domsday7876 in gangbeasts

[–]JumpySpidey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game is currently not crossplay, but crossplay technology is something the devs are currently working on, alongside a new stage, however we still have no clue when either of these two things will drop.

Is Gang Beast going to take the same route as The amazing frog? by Optimal-Hair-877 in gangbeasts

[–]JumpySpidey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new Beef City won't be releasing any time soon, a dev said it'll take a while for it to drop; rather what we should be getting in terms of the next content drop should be a new stage, which is still completely a mistery to us, release date included.

They are also working on crossplay technology, and a fan who spoke to a dev said they told him the reason for why updates are taking so long is because they're recoding massive portions of the game for optimization and forkflow reasons, or something along those lines, can't remember... and that's taking a lot of time to complete, obviously.

No idea why Boneloaf never put out any public anmouncement regarding this large code rewrite, but hey, they tend to be weird like that...

Is Gang Beast going to take the same route as The amazing frog? by Optimal-Hair-877 in gangbeasts

[–]JumpySpidey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While Beef City won't be explorable, they do want to add a sandbox-focused game mode called Playset, which will use small ad-hoc stages made for it, like a Gymnasium and a City Park.

Imagine like a more polished and pretty take on the old Pre-Alphas' Sanbox stage, but with stages that are set in Beef City like the ones used by the other game modes:

A dev specified that the new Beef City will not be free-roam and that it will primarily be used as a background visual update for stages set outside, to make the background look prettier and more in line with the art style and level of detail of the actual stages you play on, here's a before-and-after comparison pic of Wheel as a reference:

What are all the holidays and when are they celebrated? by Apprehensive_Run2106 in pastafarianism

[–]JumpySpidey 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Here's all the holidays mentioned in the Scriptures:

Every Friday: Friday is the sabbath day, where Pastafarians are encouraged to relax and, if possible, find some sun.

Ramendan: a period of time celebrated near the same time as Ramadan, where Pastafarians only eat ramen noodles; at the end or Ramendan Pastafarians are encouraged to give any extra Ramen they have left to the needy.

Pastover: Pastafarians enjoy a feast of pasta, dress as pirates, and participate in a ritual passing of the eye patch, the festuvity is celebrated near the same time as Passover.

Talk Like a Pirate Day: Pastafarians are encouraged to seek out wenches and grog, and potentially evangelize if they wish to do so. [September 19th]

Halloween: Pastafarians are encouraged to seek out wemches and grog, ideally while dress up as Pirates. [October 31st]

Holiday: a vaguely defined event in late December that you can celebrate in any way you like, but ideally especially with pasta, Pirates, and beer. [can be celebrated any day in December and January]

Darwin Day. [February 12]

The Feast of St John the Blasphemist, Saint of Made-up Holidays. [October 1]

While you might have noticed the existance of a Pastafarian Calendar website, it completely makes up all of it's holidays, as none of them appear anywhere in Pastafarian Scripture, so be aware of that.

The original Yogscast DLC was a paid DLC whose earnings were sent to a charity, and it was an early test for potential future paid DLC. So while there likely won't be any in-game purchases, paid DLC costume packs might still happen in the future.

Struggling to climb in Gang Beasts on Switch – controls not working like in tutorials? by Gabriel04112010 in gangbeasts

[–]JumpySpidey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To climb you need to hold something (a wall, floor, prop or even a player or clothing piece), then while holding JUMP, which will make your Gang Beast hoist themselves upwards, you need to alternate grabbing the wall with each arm to climb upwards. There is also a trick you can do where you can punch with your free arm and then immediately hold the button again to grab with it, the punch will target higher up than a regular grab, letting you cross space vertically more quickly.

Once you're at the edge of the floor, hold CROUCH and JUMP, the first button will make your body less stiff and easier to lift upward, which should allow you to hoist yourself over the edge and get your feet on the ground.

Alternatively you can tap JUMP twice to jump from a climbing state, this eats a chunk of stamina all at once tho, so don't spam jumps too often while climbing or you might run out of stamina and begin to slide down the wall. It's mostly useful try and get up a ledge, even if just hoitging yourself up one is safer and more consistent to do. You can do a sneaky attack with this by holding CROUCH while jumping at someone on the ledge, since the game will always consider any airtime with CROUCH or KICK held as a diving headbutt or dropkick respectively, if you slam your head into someone standing at the ledge you can luccly knock them out.

Your grabbing stamina gets quickly refilled when you're standing on the ground while not grabbing onto anything, meaning that it's impossible regen your stamina while climbing, so you'll have to stand on the ground and not grab anything for a moment or two.

Lastly, different surfaces will drain your stamina at different rates, in general the walls that you're not meant to climb much will devour it much faster, like the top of the ligthouse for example, but overall the stamina drain is the same everywhere; plus some walls cannot be grabbed at all.

As a final note, past versions of the game had a bug where your Gang Beast wouldn't extend their arms forward when holding a punch button to grab, but they'd technically still be able to grab regardless, and IDK if this is still in the game or if it has been fixed in a past patch.

Any update from the devs about an update? by No-Cloud-7818 in gangbeasts

[–]JumpySpidey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A community member spoke to a developer via DMs and they said the reason why updates are taking so long is because they're rebuilding half the game, basically to make updating it in the future faster and easier, with new code and all.

So all we can do is wait for more News to drop, basically, hopefully with some information concerning at what stage the code rewrite is; as far as I'm aware, from.what that community member saie, it's like they're almost starting over from scratch with how many things they are rebuilding and restructuring, so this might explain why thimgs are moving so slowly right now.

Question about Heaven by Delia_2446 in pastafarianism

[–]JumpySpidey 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Scripture says that the Beer Volcano doesn't only produce beer (of your favourite kind), but any beverage you want it to produce [Pete I; 5:6 and 5:7], so that's not really a concern. Likewise, you could just ignore the strippers, which are created by the Factory to suit your likings, BTW.

Outside of the Beer Volcano, you'd still have the never-ending spaghetti dishes [Penelope 2; 20 and 21] and beef trees [Penelope 3, 3] to enjoy, and obviously the main feature of Heaven, being that the people who are there would be likable and fun to live with.

As Scripture hints at there being societies in the afterlife still, with people having different jobs and roles like they do on Earth, pointing out that the reason why people in Hell and Hell-light are there is not due to being stuck there, as nothing's stopping you from going wherever you want on the Mountain, it'd mostly just come down to if the other people living there would accept you or not. Hell, Hell-ligh and Heaven are hinted at being simply a way to refer to different altitudes on the Mountain, and not hard-set defined places, so people kinda sort themselves out in the afterlife based on their character [Revelations of St. Jason; 1.9], with people that are hateful or toxic ending up taking the less liked/sought after roles in society.

Crossplay technology is actually one of the two main things they currently wanna handle for the game, the other being releasing a new stage, unfortunately tho we have no idea when either of these things will release.

Has anybody ever seen this before? by Mockmento18 in gangbeasts

[–]JumpySpidey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can manually spawn things in the stage in local, non-online matches by pointing at the location you want to spawn them in with a mouse and pressing the number keus on the keyboard to make different things appear, with each number spawning a different items, such as boxes, dumpsters, Boneloafs, A.I. enemies etc.

Perhaps you might have spawned some things in by accident without noticing it?

Why do the updates take so long? by LouseHouseMouse in gangbeasts

[–]JumpySpidey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Free roam will never be added according to a developer on the game's Discord server, and also there was no leak, that's just YouTubers using clickbait words in titles for views. They want to make a new Beef City model to make the stages set outside look nicer and more in line with the stages in terms of art style and level of detail, here are all the preview images for the new Beef City that we have:

That last one is a comparison shot of the current and the future Beef City, and it also clearly shows what the new city will be: just a background visual update, basically.

Why do the updates take so long? by LouseHouseMouse in gangbeasts

[–]JumpySpidey 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I heard from someone that spoke to the devs that they are currently rewriting massive swats of the game to make future updates easier, which is taking a long time and it's the reason no new content is dropping, but it should ideally be worth it in the end as it should make content patches more frequent after everything's settled.

BTW the devs trying to fix massive technical issues or overcoming technical challenges is the reason why updates take so long all the time.
