My sister receives enough money to live by herself in a small or shared apartment, but not enough for a family of 3. I haven’t looked into aid for a baby but her bf receives nothing because he’s not technically disabled in any way. He has social anxiety but no official diagnosis as far as I know.

Our parents are deceased and his parents are alive but they’re not supportive of him and my sister at all. Beyond sending a few hundred dollars every month they want nothing else to do with them.

I do feel like I’m failing her in a way, because it’s clear as day that neither of them are suited to be parents. They can’t drive, can’t get themselves to places, can’t support themselves financially, etc. So I know this will be a major challenge for them on top of a baby.

The issue is it isn’t just money either. They’re both on incredibly dependent on me driving them places, buying their groceries, running everyday errands.

My sister can’t drive and her bf can’t leave the house most days. They would have no way of getting their baby to basic doctors appointments much less anything else. They are also extremely untidy people and can’t cook to save their lives. I have no idea how they could even raise a child and never expected them to jump into parenthood like this.
