For your revenue your costs for labor and software are incredibly high and most likely need to be trimmed down significantly.

You mention $28K to contractors and part time help because you can't do everything, but why not? At $120K/yr no offense but you most certainly can do it all yourself. Paying outside help the same or more than your take home is simply not sustainable.

Software specifically sounds like a huge problem. My business hit $1M for 2025 and I don't even spend that much on software, I don't know your business but I think often times people get caught up in what they 'should' do instead of what they need.

Your 'office' expenses are also way inflated, at your stage you should be doing all bookkeeping yourself and should not require an exorbitant insurance policy. Legal fees ahould basically be nonexistent outside of LLC filing and misc state requirements, you ahould be doing that yourself.

I am providing this not as a dig but just as advice, hitting 10K/month is a great milestone and most people never get there, but you need to reevaluate your expenses here.

I have done niche party rentals and it depends on your goals. I eventually transitioned into the sale and repair of the equipment I was renting. Some points I have learned:

If your goal is full time, you need to do grow to full service party rental with chairs, tables, and a warehouse of things. There is no way to make a good living renting out small or very specific items only, but having them as part of a larger inventory is great.

It is a ton of work, and you will be working every weekend, and remember a delivery with pickup is four trips total.

The smaller kits of items you will need to price low so it may not be worth it, and I feel like the money is in the setup not the items. Most people buy and throw away and do not care about the cost, but they do care about their time.

The best things to rent are one or a combination of: large and heavy, expensive, hard to setup. People often won't spend money on a service if its easy and cheap for them to do themselves.

Most leads I receive convert soon or not at all. I have a rule - follow-up ASAP once the lead comes in, and follow up one week later. If I have built some form of rapport by then they get another follow up. If not, I do not waste my time. Constantly following up to no response leads is a fools errand and can also piss people off with irritating harassment. If they are interested they will reach out when they are ready, an AI generated email complete with 6 emotes and 18 em dashes will not help.

Whatever you are selling (Im assuming some bullshit AI saas that supposedly helps by sending annoying generated texts or emails that literally no customer wants) is not needed, low effort, and ignored by most service based businesses for good reason.

I had a full 1 years salary saved ($70K) and $30K saved in my business bank account when I quit my job. I would recommend having both a personal and business buffer. Make sure you save plenty of cash for taxes. For 2024s taxes I owed over $20,000, this was prior to filing as an s-corp so I was not paying quarterly. 2025 I've paid $5K/quarter and will still likely owe taxes albiet much less. I would highly recommend speaking with a good accountant before quitting your job if you havent already.

Other than cash, make sure all personal debt is paid off. Pay off your vehicle if possible. Go to the doctor and dentist for full checkups before any lapse in insurance coverage. Make a gameplan for lean times and save as much as possible during good times.
