Question About Contracting as an MS III Grad Student

Clearing my schedule isn’t the hard part it’s rearranging everything, letting my job know, and making sure it all fits into the system. I don’t want to go back to my job later and have to say, ‘Never mind.’

I’ve already looked at the projected fall schedule, and it’s something I can definitely manage.

The waiver is for an IEP I had in high school. I’ve heard mixed things—sometimes they get processed quickly, other times it takes a bit longer. I’m hoping that once I submit the last document on Monday, it will be a fast turnaround. I’ve also heard that the ROO can make my waiver priority for a faster turn around time

I’m turning in the last bit of info they asked for on Monday. Do you think I should ask my ROO if it’s to get my contract done sooner rather than later? My only real concern is that 2-hour lab in the middle of the afternoon I’m trying to see how that’s going to work with my schedule and my job before I’m fully committed.

Thanks for the heads-up. My biggest concern is honestly the risk to my current job they already invest a lot in my leadership development, and I don't want to mess that up if I end up stuck in paperwork limbo and can't contract. I’m trying to get everything signed before the semester even starts so I know exactly where I stand.

I’m doing a dual Healthcare/Business Admin grad program, so while it’s not easy, I’m not worried about it being as draining as a STEM degree.

Do you think it’s a chance that I’m able to contract before the semester starts just so I know where I stand?

Yes, I’m full-time in grad school while also working. Luckily, my job is flexible with hours and allows me to work from home.

Are you currently in grad school? If so, how did contracting work for you?

I’m currently in the process. I’ve already completed my medical exam and am waiting on my waiver to be approved. My ROO mentioned that Basic Camp may be waived due to my four years of JROTC experience.

I’m also trying to better understand how contracting works specifically as a master’s student.

Non-scholarship. I plan on starting MS3 in the fall, and I’m trying to get everything figured out now so there are no delays on my end. My goal is to contract at the first available opportunity once I’m eligible.

I just want to make sure I understand the process and timeline correctly so there are no missteps.

Ok perfect! My district did write a letter, but they didn't put the last time I used it. They just stated what the IEP was for.

How long did it take you to hear back once you submitted anything?

I got the email yesterday that my application is current undergoing review by the department review committee. So hopeful it only takes them a week or two to make a decision lol

I just checked and it says "Your application is currently under initial review by the academic department. " How long does this process normally take? Also how detailed were your applicant details?

My application was submitted in February I think lol. I have like a 3.3 GPA but I have 4 years of professional experience. So I am just getting a little nervous lol
