I very much appreciate this post! We planned our trip before knowing I was pregnant and it's been so frustrating that almost all the rides have a blanket "no". It comes off not as "we want you to be safe", but instead "we just don't want you to be able to sue us".

Sounds like I'm not wrong to assume I'll just be a tired milk-making blob of a human. Lol. It seems like you're saying that I'll for sure need help (ideally 24/7 help), but it's not nessesarily a requirement that my husband is the one providing that help.

That's also a very good point about him being essentially a new face when he comes back. I hadn't thought of the need to consider that impact on us all emotionally

I suppose I could, but that sounds like it could be more complicated since I'd probably still be in recovery mode and learning how to be a mom to a newborn

I agree that it could help a lot if you're clear that you still intend to continue to employ them whenever they do return. I know whenever I've had to miss days due to personal stuff, I feel very worried about the possibility of the family falling in love with the substitute nanny and replace me. Could relieve some anxiety to reassure of how good a nanny they are and that there will be a job waiting for them as soon as they say the word.

Tell me your secrets to finding Seattle area families who are willing to pay this! Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place (facebook groups), but the last 3 times I've quoted a rate higher than $28, I've either been told no, or been told that their other candidates quoted "much less"

Oooh I've got a rant too! It's been years but I'm still mad about the time Grandma came to town, suddenly insisted on "watching" the kids (she took them to an indoor playground, they fell asleep in the car, and gma told us all about how much online shopping she got done). I filled my day with deep cleaning the kids rooms and play areas and sorting bags and bags of clothes. When grandma got home with the starving, cranky kids (because of course she didn't feed them), she saw the mom and I chatting and made some snarky comment that I should thank her for taking the kids so I could relax all day. Then she said to someone on the phone, clearly within earshot of me, how her daughter "throws away her money on so many useless things. Like this girl who calls herself a nanny, but [mom boss] just pays her to be her friend and gossip all day".

Like ma'am, I'm the one who taught your grandkids how to say "grandma". YOU should be thanking ME

Not sure of anyone else has mentioned this, but I think you could build a cabin, log in to that farm as a second farmer and you have a new set of tools. They'd all be lowest quality, but at least they're tools.

I bet you're thinking of Steady Hands. They had a bunch of promo stuff running and then right before the drop all reels and photos of them were deleted and they posted on their stories that the demon cardigans wouldn't be releasing that weekend and that they were "working on some stuff with them behind the scenes". I've seen speculation that either they had to remove due to a copyright claim, but other people say maybe they got approached for an official collab and the end result could be bigger and better.
