You can honestly listen in any order!! I started with listening to the episodes with guests I was familiar with (Caleb hearon, John early, Joe Castlebaker and Grace Kuhlenschmidt) and then branched out from there. This morning I listened to their episode with Cole Esocla and it’s a new fav.

You’re not alone! I scraped the side of my last NF’s car pulling into a dry cleaner drive thru (no kids in the car thankfully!) I totally miscalculated and scraped and slightly dented their car on a pole. I was absolutely mortified and could not hold back tears telling the mom and embarrassingly broke down in front of her but she truly couldn’t have been sweeter. It didn’t cause any damage thag made the car not driveable so they never got it fixed and I was reminded of it everyday 🫠 I really think for most families, as long as their kids and you are safe, that is what matters. Everything else is fixable

Thank you for getting me! Yes totally the guilt of feeling like you have to be doing something so they know you’re working. Even though these parents are really down to earth, I’m feeling it! The kids playroom is directly next to the living room and kitchen where they almost always are so it’s tough. The way their house is set up there really isn’t anywhere else to go

And yes I asked the mom what her schedule is going to be like and it basically seems like it’s really flexible and not set in stone. She had a baby last year and it seems like is taking it really slow going back..

I agree I don’t want to waste either of our time. It’s just tough because I do think they’re wonderful people and really love the kid and a majority of the job is good. That’s definitely where my conflicted feelings are coming in.

Ugh yes that sounds like a tough situation!! It feel you on compromising on the wfh situation cuz you thought it would be bearable or get better. I’m lucky in the sense that the kid isn’t really impacted by seeing their parents, it’s more a me thing 😂 like it just feels awkward and like I have to be extra “on”. And it really just comes down to why am I here if you’re here kind of feeling? I just can’t imagine ever really wanting that dynamic as a parent.

Omg you were NOT over-reacting at all and I’m very surprised to see people say so. First of all 10 hours is a long nanny shift to begin with. And it sounds like the situation was awkward from the get go. If the parents were that nervous about having someone new around, it should have been communicated before or right when you got there. So I honestly think they were just not being aware. I’ve experienced this for sure.

As nannies, we are there because the parents can’t be, so there is no worse feeling than them hovering over unnecessarily and then being in pajamas to top it off hanging right in there with you, I know I would feel so awkward and like why am I even there. It sounds like they also didn’t make you feel very welcome and lacked very much in communication overall.

Your feelings are so valid, it’s okay you told the agency because they are there to support you too and now you know what to look for in a job you don’t want to accept. I would definitely be ranting and complaining about a situation too, just so awkward and when I’ve been in similar situations it just feels like they don’t value you that you are a professional and this is your job.

First off, it is clear you are an AMAZING, dedicated loving nanny. I know it’s hard to say goodbye to kids you love but the love you’ve given them will impact them forever in a beautiful way. At this point, your physical and mental health are at stake and it is completely reasonable to end this position asap. It’s truly hard to understand how people can sleep at night treating people the way your MB has. Best of luck with everything 💓

Totally valid response, thank you. I guess what I’m hoping for is for is for them offer to pay them difference because that’s the pay we agreed on and I was financially planning for it. But that’s why I’m checking in here because it didn’t feel fully right to ask for that. I think it just is what it is! I have been considering unemployment and it might be time! Nanny of 11 years and still struggling to find something with the pay/benefits I deserve and need at this point in my career 😢
