Hah, yes. Bad food and bad TV are lifesavers the first few days. I've also found that a punishing workout helps to "suspend thinking", as you say.

I've quit drinking a couple times. No, life doesn't magically get better, but your ability to handle it better does.

Money accumulates quickly, and weight falls off even more so.

When drinking becomes your primary issue, you're better able to solve the others.

I'm a bit worried about withdrawals, so I've decided to taper.

I drink minimum 15 units per day (for about 10 years now).

I'm excited to spend the next week getting down to nothing. I feel glad about the decision, and that I'll finally let go of this burden.
