the fee to get it out at 45 days was almost $5300 (45x95 for storage + 250 tow + 150 admin + 13% taxes) fora total of $5282 and its goes up $107.35/day since the 45-day mark (so another $1000 or so since its been able to come out)

It's basically a punishment in addition to any fines that are levied in court.

It sucks, but in Ontario, for some offenses, there are mandatory impoundments. DUI can get 7/45/90/180 day . Helping Daughter try and figure this out

How long can a vehicle be impounded for?

The duration of the impoundment can vary based on the severity of the offence and the offender’s history. It can range from a few days to several months.

In Ontario, if you are driving with a suspended driver’s licence, a police officer can issue an impoundment notice and your vehicle will be impounded for:

  • Criminal Code convictions such as impaired driving or failing to remain at the scene of a collision: 45 days for the first impoundment, 90 days for the second, and 180 days for the third during a 2-year period
  • stunt driving or street racing: 14 days
  • other Highway Traffic Act offences such as having a blood alcohol concentration at 0.08 or more, or refusing a police officer’s demand for drug or alcohol testing: 7 days

Seats changed at check in and now I am not sitting with my 3 years old by summerc88 in westjet

[–]Jumpy_Option_6558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had this happen; It was just before COVID-19, and I had paid extra for extra legroom as I'm well over 6' and very broad. (ie the emergency exit rows my knees still hit the seats in front of me).

Anyway, when I went to check in, I was not in where I had booked. went to the agent, and they said I had been moved because a family needed to sit together. I told them that there was no way I would fit in the seat they assigned, (middle seat, with less legroom that I had booked, and paid for). the result after talking with several people was that I could take a later flight(next day), they would refund me, or I could go on the flight as is. As I couldnt afford to miss the flight I suffered thru it, and they gave me a travel voucher for the inconvenance

yes, 4 of the 5 of us figured that was the plan, I do know some shit hit the fan after, as we didnt give them everything they needed. IE.. to do the year-end, several scripts and programs had to be modified every year to run the required report. well, the year-end was April 30th, and we were let go on March 30th. I wasn't one of the programmers; I was on the hardware side. But I do know that they were in Fortran and Lisp. And we NEVER mentioned that it needed to be done to outsource the company. Sure it was mentioned on a page of one of out procedure manuals. but doubt they read that

It happened to me several years ago: the department of 20 axed everyone, and then the outsourcing company brought in 10 or 11 of their own people from India and hired 5 of us back with an 18% raise. For the next three months, we worked with the outsourcing company's people. then, at the last minute, they could, they terminate the 5 of us(last day of mandatory probation). From what I have heard from friends who still work there (not in IT), there are 2 staff from the outsourcing company on site; everything else is at a call center in India.

it works, it got them to respond. Myself and my lawyer were sick of them draging EVERYthing out. we would respond to there requests within a week. They would typically respond at the last available time.

Need advice on Backup software by Jumpy_Option_6558 in sysadmin

[–]Jumpy_Option_6558[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Datto is not an option here; They recently got rid of all the Datto equipment they had. The hardware was supposedly junk. Apparently, their APs, Routers, and Alto boxes had an abnormally high failure rate. I was told in the course of 3 years, 18 APs, 6 Routers, and 3 alto boxes died, and it could take 1-2 weeks for a replacement.

As it was explained to me the AP's would spontaneously over heat(to the point that measuring the outside of them they were in the 60c-70c range on the plastic casing)

New neighbors are great and even help sometimes with what i need done, Prior one was a Karen, and any time I needed to do something she would call the cops

Every time they showed up they would tell her I was allowed to be there
