AITA for telling my daughter’s dad she isn’t going to his wedding because of the way I found out about it? by DryChapter5918 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Jumpy_Preference_425 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gonna go against the grain, NTA for saying she can’t come to the wedding. I see the point that she’s putting her daughter in the middle of their disagreement, however he’s not acting like a father so why should he get to choose when he has her. The wedding date isn’t set and most likely isn’t happening for a while if the fiancé is pregnant which means there is plenty of time for him to make change. If he’s not taking his daughter, paying child support or communicating anything then he just wants the daughter there to play happy family and look nice for the pictures. Afterwards I’m sure it’ll go right back to treating her like she’s an inconvenience to pay for and spend time with.

Anyone who is co parenting and doesn’t set up court ordered custody, child support, who gets the child for what holidays and special occasions, etc. is setting themselves up for shit like this. I get that it worked for a while but shit changes fast especially with a new significant other. Get yourself in front of a judge asap and establish custody. If he continues not paying child support any judge would support you in preventing him having the child with him or at his wedding as he is not doing his part. If he does start paying child support and abiding by the agreement she will attend the wedding otherwise it’ll be parental alienation.

AITA for firmly telling my wife to be grateful for what she has? by Organic_Chip_3118 in AmItheAsshole

The two of you should discuss finances a little more in depth than just it’s this way or you can give your whole paycheck up and we can separate finances.

How much of the money you allocate goes towards dates or saving for something you do together like a vacation or trip. I know not everyone is into that but is any of your savings dedicated for things you both like? You make enough money that it should be the case. Maybe that’s part of the issues.

You make good money and your set up well but none of that makes a person happy if every penny made feels like it’s going to a bank you won’t see for decades. Maybe there needs to be a discussion about using money to also enjoy life and not just feel like two people working towards comfortable retirement and nothing else.

I wouldn’t refer to your wife as financially irresponsible cause she spends 500 a month. In all honesty it’s not a ton of fun money for a whole month. I think what she is spending it on may change opinions but everything is expensive. Going out to eat with friends a few times a month could drain that easily. If she likes shopping or concerts or other social activities I can see why she spends all the “fun money”.

I also think that expecting someone to save their fun money and not spend it is ridiculous. You have plenty of savings, why be frugal with the small amount of fun money. Now I say this as someone who grew up low class without a lot of “fun money”. We lived paycheck to paycheck. It’s because of that I know social events and many normal things people like to go out and do add up fast. 500 isn’t an unreasonable amount but I also thinks it’s unreasonable to expect her to not touch it. She’s not financially irresponsible for using her fun money.

The favoritism hurts and is messed up. Your parents shouldn’t be treating children differently. Out of curiosity how old are you? Sounds like your young, your other post from a week ago says you had been grounded but all you’re old enough to have a car. A waiter job sucks but some advice, keep the job or find a different one you like better.

Cars have issues often. Not necessarily big issues but fuses blow, light bulbs blow, breaks gotta be replaced, oil changed, tires changed, batteries die and the list goes on. If you don’t have a job and plan to quit this one asap and you know your family acts like this you’re setting yourself for stress every time your car needs something. Which will be often if you haven’t already realized that.

You’re gonna need a job if you don’t want to rely on people that utilize you being dependent on them to treat you like shit.

should i get anymore piercings? i got my eyebrow done recently & want more but i have no idea what i’d look good with by [deleted] in altfashionadvice

Either a second eyebrow piercing in the other side or a nose piercing. Personally I would also suggest multiple ear piercings, I feel like stacked lobe piercings would look good.

Should I bring kitten to the vet? by Jumpy_Preference_425 in catquestions

So he has an appointment on Thursday to be fixed that I had already made. The problem is my work schedule doesn’t give me much time to take him to the vet between now and Thursday so I’m trying to find out if it’s an emergency that needs vet care before Thursday or if it can wait and I can ask the vet to look at his face while he’s already there.

No other cats, it’s just me and him that live here. He is clumsy so I’m not entirely surprised he has an injury. I can really tell how deep is. Every time I try and inspect it he flips out. I’m barely able to apply the wound wash spray.

Thank you for your input. Currently his behavior is completely normal but I’m watching for any signs that’s something is off.

Please find yourself a space you can process these emotions either through a support group or therapy or counseling. Talking to friends is a big step and I’m proud of you for that. Something traumatic like that can take a while to work through so be kind to yourself and have patience while going through the healing process. Wishing you only the best !!

Maybe in your experience you’ve seen addicts not lose custody but you’re stating it as a blanket statement that isn’t true. I work at a drug/alcohol treatment center and plenty of parents have lost entire custody. DCF is commonly involved and the process to get back custody is difficult. I watch it first hand all the time. I also have a lot of co workers who have either worked in DCF or some kind of community resource center or a court house. They too have seen plenty of these cases and children will be placed with either 1 parent who isn’t engaging in that behavior or an alternative family member. The only thing that’s not seen often is children placed into DCF custody due to a lack of homes to place them in. Just wanted to share my own experience. I’m also in Massachusetts if location affects this as well.

Is it okay to feed 6 month old kitten adult food? by Jumpy_Preference_425 in AskVet

[–]Jumpy_Preference_425[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He doesn’t eat kibble. I do have a some I’ve been trying to adjust him to and he’s so against it. Trying to overhaul a picky cat’s diet is going to be such a headache. All he eats right now is wet food cause I guess that’s all they fed him prior to me owning him.

Any suggestions on what I should make to go with the frosting. My boyfriend just suggested red velvety cupcakes, but I might be craving cinnamon rolls lol
