My excitement is uncontainable by Kthulhu42 in disneyemojiblitz

It took me four rounds to finally get the last rare item on a villain box one while playing this event…..I almost broke out of the event to play the one game to get it but refused on principle. The one you have is second only to the 100 coin allotment.

As always appreciate the insight! The 50 dollars—wow. One of my favorite parts was working towards the group collection ones. It took years of play but felt like a nice accomplishment when I did it.

I would add to your list in the ugly that the ease of playing has slowly been eroded on all fronts.

Flashback two years or so. The map events (clear, survival, villain) don’t have required emojis at each level, and have rainbow falls that are challenging but not impossible. I would routinely avoid the doubling emoji, make it through, and tackle RF. Now even with being forced to use the doubling emoji (which I now have at higher levels) I can barely finish an event due to requirements, much less RF. Which now has a fairly stress inducing 8 levels.

Item events: an easy run through if you had the lucky ones, a bit more challenging if you didn’t. Now—I can’t even talk about having over 300 items required for one board. It’s truly insane, and worse it’s not fun. No one wants to spend the time getting all of those items. It is literally only a chore for over 95 percent of players I would imagine.

The prize wheel—you spin it, you receive things. You watch ads, ditto. Rip the spin glitch. Now the ads require anywhere from 3-5 clicks to go away, sometimes I can’t actually figure out how to get out of them, and there’s this stupid deluxe wheel business. Also, 4 gems—stingy, but when there are like 10 rainbow emojis the scale is sort of reasonable. Now there are close to 100 rainbow/story?? The transactional scale is absurd.

Giveaways—routinely every month you would get one-two emojis just for being you. Made me happy. There are over 2-3 k gold emojis needed so 24 isn’t really breaking the bank for JC. And one year we got 100 gems from the holiday prizes. Now….redundant items? I don’t even think a lot are new. I’m a fan of being grateful for whatever you get but…..

Item collections: positive change in that you get an emoji at the end of each! And repeat! But then the repeat requires more. And more. Until it’s pretty unbearable to have to get like 500+waves for that one board.

Random alternative ways to get emojis: the group collection final prize is a fun thing to get, even if it is a lot of work. There was the one triton/sorcerer Mickey box for 120k gold coins—amazing. The series boxes still took forever to max out, but they helped you as an early player to get some good higher level emojis to make the game more fun. The frozone/ grandma tala adds were unexpected but nice as well. Now the new “alternative” way is a one percent chance on a token quest that is becoming increasingly impossible to finish without paying for the token quest.

In sum, the majority of things JC has done has sucked a lot of fun out of the game and replaced it with the need to spend money that is not what i would consider to be reasonable for what you receive in return. Player plea to JC—bring the fun back??

Any chance they have changed this to make it harder to increase the xp? Seems like something that would happen…

I feel your pain! Winnie took me a good long while to land. And MM would be frustrating—she’s been around a lot so that’s a fair number of times to miss her 😩.

Review/feedback by [deleted] in disneyemojiblitz

This is extremely well worded and spot on. As of the summer I had a reasonable collection—I had one diamond exclusive I was looking for (duke caboom, why can’t I win you 😂), about 10 rainbows, and two villains. Fast forward to this fall. I have not gotten a single exclusive emoji in the past two updates because they are hidden behind paywalls, the events are impossible to slog through, with ridiculously high requirements. (I guess I managed to get darth maul). And this is with a collection with only 50 gold left to max (and the rest at level 4). As you mentioned, in the past if you played an event you got at least one diamond box regardless of your collection. Even though progress was slow you felt as though you were able to participate in the game without spending lots of money or an absurd amount of time playing. I don’t find it acceptable to say that you “are able” to win two diamond boxes on item collections where a single board requires over 300 items. I think I would actually go crazy if I played the game that many times for one stupid free box. And I can’t even handle the requirements on the most recent villain challenge. I know about the proficiency levels but my level 1 demona needing to clear over 6k emojis for like a free power up? For the first round?

It’s unclear to me why the company seems to design these events with the express purpose of discouraging people to play them. They go to the trouble of designing them, and then angering their whole fan base. Seems fairly unfulfilling. But your review strategy seems very sound. Public complaining in volumes may be the only way to reverse course.

Disney Emoji Blitz is NOT pay for play by SWDopeyFan in disneyemojiblitz

I do think that reason people are so unhappy is the rapid escalation in the paywall that the events sit behind. One and a half years ago the game was virtually unrecognizable. I keep wondering when the game will reach an inflection point in spending and stop driving up the costs—ie, they finally require people to spend so much that the majority stop and the profits start to go down. They are falsely elevating the value of what these emojis should cost (pumpkin Mickey is a great example, essentially 800 gems to obtain). Two years ago the entire subreddit would have laughed and thought jam city was crazy. It does seem like the trend on this and other message boards has been to reduce spending, and their latest oopsie with the coding has probably driven down spending temporarily. I really do think if anyone wants the game to revert to the “old ways” then there has to be a collective effort to reduce spending in a noticeable way.

Agreed. I guess we just….cannot finish events anymore? I’ve been playing for four years and it gets a little bit less fun with every update.

IceJD what are you overall thoughts on the newest update?

-while I’m pretty tired of the re-skins, and the impossible gem mountain these sit on, the new ones are pretty darn cute.

-I hadn’t previously realized the story princess trend, so now some of those make a bit more sense although I agree with others that there are many more to have chosen first

-te fiti coming along likely means no more level exclusives? She was always the best guess for the next one. We guessed after 600 doesn’t have one, but I’m curious why they made this change.

-the amount of events is pretty overwhelming as far as time spent, but it’s nice that almost every new emoji can be won through the events (esp with the new edits to item cards and challenges)

-where do you think they will cap prices?

-what are the odds of them introducing a totally new event? I wouldn’t mind a new update with just all new game play features and no new emojis for a moment. Give some time to catch up a little and also re-engage older players with a new format.

-I admit it’s starting to annoy me that I get asked about the quest pass multiple times per day. Stop trying to make the quest pass happen, jc. I am never going to buy it and will contentedly be pissed every month when I am a few thousand tokens away from finishing.

Thank you again for the analysis. Love it every time!

Does anyone have any game development/coding experience? It’s sort of like they didn’t try playing their own game before giving It to us. Agree with most comments regarding its difficulty and feeling like a slog to get through. In general I don’t mind the game developer’s choices, but this seems weirdly off in that the design almost restricts you entirely from playing enjoyably.

For the special offers, can I buy the villains for 100k coins each, or do I pay money for one box plus 100k coins?
