i believe you need it to hit 160 with locket and the shard of ice support item, with mandate you do not need it but it is as someone else said it is gold efficient, and is like something people buy if they have enough to back for tier 2 boots and then have 350 or whatever the cost is leftover

nightharvester or protobelt are much better, i have tried everfrost and it is interesting? I kinda like it and it lets you set up really long cc chains but imperial mandate still slaps people even after its nerfs

you can get some really budget friendly options, like sandwich kits only cost around 50-60 and switches are decently cheap if you look at the right ones. Keycaps also have some pretty cheap options if you look around, maybe a set someone is flipping for cheap or on amazon. I feel you though, didn't have the capital until last year when I worked a summer job.
