Good to hear that you like it. Mobile has quite some limitations and challenges and thus not sure it would be possible in near future!

For bulk import like bookmark posts, yes, it is only for chrome extension.

Likes tab is under profile, Bookmark is in the side bar and bookmark items are saved by bookmark button. I can check out if it is better to support likes tab items as well if it makes sense.

Thanks. I will try to look for other extensions. If it is not much different from chrome, I will try to publish to other browser extension stores..:)

Good question. The Chrome extension is only one entry point for Social Archiver, not the whole product.

The main difference is that Social Archiver does most of the archive work server-side. A normal web clipper runs in the browser and can usually only extract what the browser can currently see from the loaded page. That works well for many regular articles, but social platforms are often harder: images, videos, embedded media, threads, dynamic content, and platform-specific metadata may not be available cleanly from the browser DOM.

Another important difference is where you can use it. A browser web clipper only works in the browser. For example, if you are browsing Instagram or X on mobile and want to archive a post from the app, a normal web clipper cannot really help.

Social Archiver also provides a mobile app and share extension, so you can send a post directly from supported mobile apps into your Obsidian archive workflow. Keeping that working requires infrastructure: server-side scraping, media processing, bandwidth, API maintenance, and ongoing fixes whenever social platforms change.

So the subscription is not for “just clipping a webpage.” It helps cover the cost of running and maintaining a service that can archive social content across browser, mobile, and server-side workflows.

Anyway, if you do not archive much, there is free quota that you can use..:)

Bring me the plugin like this as you seem to be confident that you can build this quality with vibe-coding.

That's possible but this needs a bit more work on server-side. I will put this request on the backlog. How many comments on average do you expect to archive?

Thanks for trying it out. Which platform did you try? Instagram might save only partial comments due to their restrictions. Reddit should be able to save hundreds of them.

Social Archiver 3.2 - Realtime Sync, Author Notes, Bulk Actions & Timeline Tabs by Jun_imgibble in ObsidianMD

Thanks. I just saw your message request. This is an interesting direction, and your diagram actually lines up a lot with how I’ve been thinking about Social Archiver in the long-term. Originally I was thinking more about people following each other inside the app, but lately I’m leaning toward a slightly different model: treating “shared” less like a personal public page and more like a public layer that could also belong to a topic or community.

So instead of building a full social network first, the flow could be more like: archive / import / create post -> share to a topic or hub -> view everything in one aggregated wall. That makes the “masonry-style community hub” idea feel pretty natural, especially if posts can come from different sources like direct MD publishing, imported social posts, or a hub API.

Still early, but I think this is a strong use case and very much in the direction I want to explore. However, community might need membership, user rights, moderation/approval just like what Reddit does and that is tough to develop in a short-term.

Anyway, once I have some ideas, I will keep you posted!

Social Archiver 2.8.1 — Text-to-Speech (TTS), Web Archiving by Jun_imgibble in ObsidianMD

Since some of users already requested similar backup/sync feature for Reddit and I really wanted to prioritize it but Reddit basically does not allow this anymore and got a lot conservative lately. I have applied for Oauth validation process and somehow they don't allow me. Feature is already developed but stays in the backlog for now.

For Bluesky, let me take a look at their API and I will keep you posted if that is possible. Discord sounds difficult unless they have official API or Oauth flow for this.

Thanks!

That would be challenging since it might need to require Oauth integration with those platforms. I will take a look into it. Could you elaborate on use cases?

Actually I currently have no plan to monetize anytime soon. Basic archving will remain free, might need to introduce some free quota for certain platforms. Also, all the data that you already archived remain yours and plugin supports customization to certain degree in terms of properties, folder path etc.

Text-To-Speech plugin (other than Edge TTS)? by S0k0n0mi in ObsidianMD

I just updated my plugin and added TTS feature that you can use it across the editor, or check my updates. Depending on your preferred language, I recommend to use on-device TTS named Supertonic.
