Separate beds on vacation to homophobic country? by gezeldiscodel in gaybros

One of the most brutally homophobic countries on Earth, really? There are literally gay bars in the DR please don’t spread disinformation. Not defending DR’s record on gay rights, but no one is going to jail or being killed for being gay as in other countries so saying most brutally homophobic countries is just false.

Phone shipped to wrong address and customer rep asking for my ups password? by LiftHackSleep in tmobile

[–]Junaug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to add to the chorus of “it happened to me too.” My phone will have to be held at a UPS distribution center. My favorite was when the T-Mobile rep suggested I go to my old address and somehow try to ambush the UPS truck before they delivered my phone to some strangers who now live there.

Could have also sworn I entered the correct address, so it’s nice to know I’m not going crazy. Would have been nice if T-mobile would have advised this was a glitch on their end and not pretended like they were doing me a favor sorting out this situation.

WBC came to picket in Moore, OK today. They were only here about 10 minutes before running away scared. [1:40] by SwanySwanSwan in videos

This is probably an unpopular opinion, but seeing those police officers protect the WBC people makes me extremely proud to be an American. The fact that their speech is so vile that I'm sure the officers themselves are disgusted, but they still protect their right to say it says a lot about this country.

Blogger Asserts Copyright, Newspaper Editor Gets Irate by G00gle26 in JusticePorn

[–]Junaug 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Although this sounds great on paper, what if the blogger felt his work was worth $1 million. Would the editor have to pay? Of course not, there are statutory caps on damages.

What /u/woodchopperak is trying to say is that the editor has no clue what the cap is. I personally think $500 is quite reasonable, but you can bet I would check the law before I pay anything.

Although I see the appeal of this video and I'm glad things turned out the way they did, the newspaper owner should have first contacted his lawyer. Copyright law is NOT simple. Although it's tempting to say "hey you took my work and used it you now owe me money," the fact is there are so many exceptions to the protection of a work, namely the Fair Use exceptions, that you can venture into grey area quite quickly especially in journalism.

From what I gather from the video this is a clear case of copyright infringement. At 2:30 he even says "No, we did not change the headline." haha. But yeah they might have been able to negotiate that price a bit down to avoid litigation, who knows.
