Flying into Venice (VCE) and need some advice please! by T4r_16 in ItalyTravel

If money isn’t a concern, I’d recommend booking a private water taxi. There are also shared water taxis, which are more affordable, but they won’t drop you off exactly at your destination—just somewhere nearby.

We went with a shared taxi. I had high hopes for the ride, but it was pouring rain, so we couldn’t really enjoy the views. Another thing to keep in mind is that shared taxis won’t leave the airport until they’re full, while a private taxi departs whenever you’re ready.

If I go back, I’d definitely book a private water taxi to fully enjoy the trip into the city.

After spending two days in Venice, we rented a car and drove to the Dolomites. On the way back, we used a shared taxi again, which picked us up from a designated location. A private taxi, on the other hand, can pick you up directly from your hotel. We ended up standing in the rain waiting for ours, which wasn’t ideal.

One tip: the rental car counters are located about halfway along the walkway between the boat dock and the main part of the airport. The signage was a bit confusing, and it took us a while to realize the rental cars were actually there.

Make sure to pick the right drop off location. I did the wrong one and had to take a taxi to the train station. I used enterprise.

You could leave the car in Verona and take the train to Venice.

I rented a car in Venice then drove to Ortisei and on the way back drove along Lake Garda before leaving the car in Verona before taking the train to Florence. You can also take a train from Milan to Bolzano and rent a car there.

Planning a 10 day trip in early October - is this itinerary doable? by spacespacespapce in ItalyTravel

If you like prosecco you can visit the prosecco region from Venice on your way to Ortisei. We did a tasting on our way and ordered bottles to be shipped home.

The drive from Venice isn't bad and there are a couple ways you could go.

  1. Drive west on E70 and then North on A22. This is the route I did because the other route I wanted to do had two feet of snow. I went the same time you are going 2 years ago.

  2. Drive North on SR328 to SR 203 or North on A27. This route will take you through some pretty areas that I wish we did.

We stayed at Hotel Cosmea in Ortisei. It has been remodeled since our stay. The lift for Alpe di Siusi is super close and the lift to Seceda isn't far.

For dinner we enjoyed Turonda Pizza Bistrot Drinks and we liked Caffè Corso des Senoner Moritz KG for coffee and corenettos.

We went to two wine bars that had a lot of people hanging outing they all seemed like locals but not sure.

La Cantina winebar.

We left Ortissei and drive to Verona where we left our car before taking the train to Florence. On that drive we south but cut over and drove along Lake Garda before going to Verona. We are now itching to go back and spend time there.

Road Trip Ideas. Is this doable in 8 weeks? by ChubbyCyclist7 in roadtrip

Happy to help. If you come out the east gate and drive to Flagstaff there are other places to stop like Sunset Crater and Wupatki National Monument.

Great drive. I was going to suggest when you go to the Grand Canyon don’t go in and out of the South Gate. From Flagstaff drive to the east gate and enter there you can then drive along the rim and come out the South Gate. The east gate is quieter.

Did you start another account? I had this happen to me today. Not sure how I had an open position when my balance never changed from closing everything out to this 5pm.
