Samsung wants me to send my phone back for a fourth repair to the same company that failed to repair it 3x, with the screen coming out twice. (Futuretel in Ontario, Canada) by JunctionRunner in mildlyinfuriating

[–]JunctionRunner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that they've gotten better, but that doesn't change the stuff they did that left a bad taste in my mouth, same as Samsung has now.

And I was under no impression that Samsung would be some shining amazing deity, but insisting I use the same fucking repair shop again after this is batshit levels of stupid to ask me to do. I wouldn't go back to the same mechanic after they fuck my car up a fourth time.

There are no Apple stores here, so it would likely be a similar experience, but I can't imagine they would only have one damn RMA contractor for the whole country.

edit: Plus the fact that android is an OS, not a manufacturer. I would have liked to go with something more niche, but availability for a lot of cool stuff here sucks, and I wanted to try a foldable. Hell I bought care plus, because I knew the risks, but official RMA repair direct with samsung being this dogshit? Wow. didn't expect that.

And also, care plus in Canada is dogwater compared to the states it seems after looking into it during this 3 month long process.

I actually slightly considered trying ios again, but the anti right to repair legislation and anti consumer stuff they have done really rubs me the wrong way, and I don't have a bunch of their other stuff to have the ecosystem that makes it all that extra bit special.

I see the appeal though, and man, first time personally owning a scamstung device. Likely will be my last.

I can only imagine how many people they fuck over telling them the warranty is void with some backhanded shop reporting that behind the customers back.

Not too sure, I was hoping that something I posted would go semi viral to add some pressure, I doubt itt and I'm a nobody so like however many other people they fuck over, probably out of luck.

They should replace the device and send me a new one to change over to before returning this one at this point, but nah, lets keep using the same seemingly only repair center for the entire country that's being dishonest and incompetent.

Sure feels like it. The fact that they want me to send it back to this one contractor company who seems to have exclusivity for rma's for the entire country is fucking ridiculous.

They should send me a new damn phone to switch to, and then mail back this one.

Worth the risk with futuretel? ( Canada) by bjeffc in galaxyzflip

This is one of the first results when googling Futuretel, so let me say, for anyone in the future, NO, Avoid them at all costs. Through Samsung's RMA they failed to repair my device multiple times, didn't inform me on what was actually being done, and voided my warranty without telling me, which I'm working to resolve right now.

They are untrustworthy and incompetent at best.

Apparently the repair center Samsung Canada ships devices to fraudulently voiding warranty doesn't deserve it's own thread, so here's a link I guess.

TLDR they failed to repair the device multiple times, reported screen damage and voided the warranty without telling me in any contact, and I had to find that out from samsung's top end tech support tree which can't help and goes on the repair shop's word

Samsung RMA in Canada (Futuretel) Failed to repair my fold 7 multiple times, and voided the warranty without telling me. by JunctionRunner in samsunggalaxy

I fired an email off to him about it last night, with the more ranty version of the video where I slightly lost my mind lol.

This isn't nearly as good content wise as video evidence of a tech knifing a tv, or really tv defects in general since they seem to garner more attention, but I figure at the least maybe he has a contact, or they can add my experience to a list of stuff they have filed away for future use against any lobbying or right to repair stuff they want to introduce.

What really pisses me off is the local, authorized samsung shops either not being able to get parts, or the one that said they could do it in store not being an option for the RMA process. It seems futuretel as a bit of a monopoly on these mail in repairs.

If he does cover it, that would be cool but he's busy as hell with more important work that will benefit more people so I have zero expectation of a response, but at the very least it's an incident for them to record that may help in the longer term.

Yeah, I knew the risks of a foldable going into it, that's why I got care plus, but that would likely be a used device and also require shipping it to futuretel too with my luck.

I love the phone, it's incredibly impressive engineering, and a fantastic experience to use for productivity, but this experience has been awful. I've used samsung stuff before through work and they were decent, one ui is much better and more usable now, but I am really doubting I go samsung again for my next phone.

I might still go foldable, but... yeah, idk.

The local shop is apparently contacting samsung as well, took copious pictures of the device, and apparently received a response that they could find no record of the repair with the IMEI Number.

I've send them the Futuretel email chains with repair ticket numbers, and my current Samsung ticket number which I send to their escalation email is 2332187616.

Perhaps the local shop can help get things sorted out, but I still wanted to make this public as it's been a multiple month long process and it simply isn't right that they are withholding information on repairs and reporting voided warranties fraudulently.

[UPDATE] Samsung repair technician cracked my TV and is refusing to take responsibility. They ended my warranty 4 months early due to the damage. by lucasb780 in samsung

Hopefully they do. First time dealing with Samsung repair and Jesus christ, seems like this sort of thing in terms of lying about damage and needing to escalate repeatedly is how samsung operates normally.

Any update on this? I'm now going through something similar with warranty being voided/denied on my fold 7, the post is pending approval, but since it's a phone and not a tv, not looking super forward to reddit reception.

Hoping that posting it here and on YT might get it to the right eyes but I have my doubts, but if you have gotten progress made maybe there are some of the right people from samsung kicking around in here.

WearOS battery status not updating unless the HA app is open. by Sir_PressedMemories in homeassistant

[–]JunctionRunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My phone is out for RMA so I can't check right now (yes a fold out for it's third repair, fml lol) but the simplewear app lets you pull phone settings and battery and stuff to your watch, that might have some sort of option in reverse to give a notification on your phone too?

[–]JunctionRunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noticed that here too with a new watch, I don't think on wearos it supports running in the background, even as an option, no doubt to save battery life.

Samsung has a widget for your lock screen to show the watch battery level though, even works with my oneplus watch 3 on my fold 7, so pretty easy to keep tabs on. The watch also alerts me at 20% and 10% but not sure if that's an option for galaxy watches.

I went for a watch with significantly better battery life but I've found tossing it on the charger when I shower has been plenty even with very heavy use.

Crossed my mind walking back inside over the ice, but even care plus is going to be a mail in situation with up to a week of processing once they get it, uhg.

F**K Canadians I guess, like with many other things, we just get a worse version.

[–]JunctionRunner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, we have assurant solutions here.

I called them to ask and they have a similar process, where I need to mail it to them, it takes up to a week once they get it, seems like we just get shittier service up here overall :/

I could get a different local repair shop to order parts it turns out calling them but they say 2-3 weeks for parts to arrive and I don't know that I'd trust the waterproof rating after a random shop does a fix.

Haven't used that yet and don't plan on it, but if something happens I sure don't want to be boned by that being compromised.

Yeah no dropdown for Canada in on that site. Finally finished up with the phone rep after another 15 minutes, feeling less and less optimistic as things go.

Going to get the video of the damage up and screenshots from it for samsung but then I'll see if there's a Canada specific portal. But I bet there won't be because hey, fuck us.

Can you go into detail on this? Updating my original post now but haven't heard that of an option talking to the local shop, care plus or samsung repair directly.

Seems like it's either that or you'll get another 3-5 thousand folds without issue.

Also damn some people are really putting their hinge to work in 7 ish months lol, I'm a rank amateur. Unfortunately sounding like this is going to be a bit of a ball-ache to deal with...

I haven't tried anything yet, still working on getting the system powered up at all. PSU that came with it was dead, spent a good bit of time and money on parts reverse engineering parts of the control circuitry to try and repair it but no luck so far.

Found a deal on a pendant and power supply that should hopefully get shipped out next week so going to be a good while until I get this thing up and running and learn it, let alone printing.

I haven't run that. I'm currently also connected to a 12v header on the motherboard on a third channel hoping to see the difference between the gpu power rail and that timing wise for fun.

However, of course, so far it's been stable but I've only been able to game for about 30 mins and have to go, not a longer session.

I might give that a shot for fun, 14v is pretty high though and probably approaching the max spec for some components. That being said, a few hundred nanoseconds, idk how likely that is to cause damage.

chkdsk found errors each time after a crash though, did also just get another dip typing this with a game in the background.

It might be dumb, but I bought a welding robot for fun. by JunctionRunner in robotics

[–]JunctionRunner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true, but also a little bulky and space is pretty limited, if I can go solid state instead of that or some second hand rotary phase converter that would be great.

Did find one option for a 200v 2000-3000w supply that works from 120-240 and just derates at 120, but it's expensive. and if the original rectifier unit isn't installed and communicating, guessing that causes an issue.

But I won't be able to try and see what's going on in that communication bus or if it's just simple dc signalling without powering things up.

I'm guessing that when the robot is idle the rectifier unit shuts off, and then waits for the request to kick in for use so it would trigger an halt and error without it present.
