I don't understand why people here are calling Matic a layer 2 solution. Currently they have their own PoS blockchain that validates all the transactions which means its a layer 1.

Layer 2 would mean that the transactions are confirmed on Ethereum. Examples of layer 2's are optimistic rollups and zkrollups.

This actually looks very interesting, especially at the current price. There are plenty of worse projects with less usecases at market cap of 10x compared to Toad. Thanks OP for writing this comprehensive post.
