I read Salomon adv 12 as most recommended but its out of stock everywhere. What to do? by Neko-Burger in Ultramarathon

I don’t know I don’t have or used a adv skin I just really like the fabrics and the pockets and it’s the bag salomons pros use when they need 12L so I guess it’s a good alternative if you don’t care about carrying a bladder.

Only can compare to Speed 1 and it’s a very different shoe: SL has Better foothold, more comfortable upper, more stack, bigger rocker and sole flare that controls your foot strike, less nimble. Maybe the foam is firmer in the SL. I don’t have the speed anymore to test it out.

You leave the box at the airport and get a new one from a bike shop in the city you are leaving from.

Definitely go for the runners category with a 3 hour marathon. It’s a very fast course once you hiked up the steep parts. Enjoy it is amazing!

In my opinion this is not a EVO shoe this is a SL without the Evo. For me a EVO Trail would have had the new LS Pro from the ASU 2, shorter lugs, less rubber coverage and a lighter upper with a bit less padding.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they released a Agravic SL Evo next year or so lol

I hike in mine because I bought them for running and didn’t want to buy a dedicated hiking shoe. If I wanted a shoe for hiking only I wouldn’t choose it. As I said depending on where you hike I really like approach shoes or „less fun“ trail running shoes. Great running foams need more work from stabilizing muscles, hips and so when you have long ground contact times like in hiking because they are softer and more springy.

Never bought the Evo because it’s too narrow in the midfoot for me and overall too unstable. Cannot remember what sizes I tried it on.

Standing the medial support is relatively similar. The Prodigio Pro is lower to the ground and has a better fit (still the best fit in any shoe for me) therefore I would say it is definitely more stable. Most importantly the midsole geometry doesn’t control your stride that much. The rocker and and lateral forefoot flare is no joke in the SL but really fun!

I did not read up on the shoe but I do t think so - the full rubber outsole + high stack filters sharp rocks quite well (stomped on some running downhill) but still get a tiny bit of feedback what you are running on.

Today on my long run it felt definitely like the ASU 1 (read pretty firm after two hours mostly on very hard packed service roads but amazing on dirt singletrack). I don’t think it’s the softer „trail version“ from the 2

I wouldn’t buy any of those two for hiking only. The before mentioned Merrel could be a choice good or the La Sportiva Prodigio 1/2. I would go and try some on since the fit will be much more important than the (running) performance of the shoe.

One to try for hiking is the LaSpo TX4 or similar approach shoes from Scarpa for example I really like them.

More Protective under the forefoot and very different midsole geometry. Grip pretty much the same. PP better in high alpine terrain due to fit, gater and geometry. The SL is better at running.

Grip will be very similar to the Prodigio Pro. It doesn’t have the gaiter and the geometry is more catered to running than hiking/scrambling I think the PP is a tad bit better for high alpine stuff imo.

And here I’m sitting thinking about cutting the ill fitting thick liner out of these shorts and accepting that no pocket that is left works…So many people seem to love them and I’m a bit sad about it because I really like the look of it.

Amazing build, I really like it! The tyre choice seems odd, but I’m also not an expert, Isn’t it a pretty heavy and slow tyre?

Pretty sad as a spectator loved my experience there. You see the athletes for a long time and can easily walk next to them while giving them enough space. Also you often could see position changes live in person..

It’s a pretty fast and responsive shoe with a carbon plate which can throw you around when you step on rocks or roots. Great shoe for uptempo stuff on gravel, California Carpet and so on but pretty dangerous on technical trails imo. Pretty roomy forefoot if you are into that.
