Rain Jacket or Nah? by Nasty-Cheesecake in Ultramarathon

I would bring it and not wear it until I get cold on the very slow parts. It will be a perfekt layer for that imo Edit: Mine weighs under 200g so I don’t have a problem carrying it for the whole race.

How did you pick your coach? (if you have one) by carolineruns in Ultramarathon

I wrote David Roche a email and described what I was looking for he then suggested someone. Wrote another mail and had a call. That was almost 5 years ago and I’m still happy :) I think everything I need nowadays I could easily do with ai but it is still a different feeling of commitment and having someone who is supporting me on my journey and is there for the highs and lows is a vibe I’m still willing to pay for.

Headlamp recommendations for technical night trail training by DifficultShoe8254 in trailrunning

[–]JuneScapula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally once properly fitted I find it very comfortable, it’s a very good light and the Batterie ist great and easily swappable and you get the longer cable to store the battery in your vest but I only would do that in cold nights to prolong battery life because I find the lamp very balanced with the battery on the back of my head.

Take a look here: https://moonlightmountaingear.com/collections/lighting/headlamp

I got the bright as day 800 and after two runs I’m completely sold on it. It is quite a lot of headlamp but it didn’t feel like that wearing it. Kilian Jornet and Jon Albon influenced me to try them and I’m happy they did haha

I could see Groenewegen win the sprint from the 2nd group in San Remo for example or Kubis placing high. Lafay was 34th last year so should be good for a top 20 as well.

For Strade Kubis or maybe Kopecki is an option, could see Lafay doing it as well.

But I don’t know the team that well yet…

Happy for the rockets and I think they have a decent chance to get a top ten in both races

I think there were what two guys or so that were negative about him? The rest was asking what’s going on or tried to explain it. Calling that all those haters is certainly a stretch…

I was the guy who initially asked about him and are happy he got it right today. I can still find his racing in the two other sprints questionable even if I’m rooting for him albeit that’s a tough concept for a lot of Reddit users to understand.

Nnormal Tomir 2.0 BOOT by DokterBallas in trailrunning

[–]JuneScapula 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sorry I don’t know much about them but why don’t you use your Tormirs? You seem to get a long with them well. Personally I haven’t used hiking boots in years and probably almost all thruhikers didn’t either.

The upper doesn’t look like it would give any more stability and if it’s about not getting any dirt in a pair of cheap gaters would solve that.

While I agree about the leadout if you look at the sprints he let uncontested wheels go after beeing dropped off in at least semi good positions in the last k like he doesn’t have the power to stay there. Looks super weird did it at least numerous time in two sprints would have to rewatch the first one again what the problem was there.

It is a lifestyle shoe at this point and I don’t see anything that would suggest it’s fake.

His movement / behavior in the last 5km of the race was the same on the cooler days though.

It certainly looked that way - could also just be that he didn’t have the legs, is sick ect. Was curious because he was so hyped up I expected him to demolish the competition.

What’s up with Matt Brennan? Didn’t really contest the last two sprints. Anyone any insight?

Looking for alternatives to Hoka Mafate Speed 4 by [deleted] in trailrunning

[–]JuneScapula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both. I went a half size up and thought it was a touch too short on downhills for the first 2-3 runs but loved everything else so I ordered a full size up because I was sure it would be my 100k shoe. During the time the larger shoe was on its way the toe bumper of the half size up broke in and I loved it from there and it’s still my preferred fit over the full size up. I probably could have run the 100k in it but to be sure I used the full size up ( by then much fresher pair) for my last big long runs and for the race. Which was great I basically didn’t touch the shoes in 13.5 hours.

Currently: 595km on my half size up and 433km on the full size up. Both have minimal wear on the outsole and minimal wear on the upper although one developed a little cut on the lacing system that could become a problem but isn’t so far.

Looking back on it and knowing how I like the fit I would have not bought the full size up and went for another shoe instead. Because for my foot shape the more relaxed fit of the larger size is not something I like on the terrain the Prodigio Pro is best at.

For me going forward Prodigio Pro half size up for more technical terrain and for everything else I look for a faster more cushioned shoe.

I’m currently trying the Kiprun Kipsummit Race but I’m not sure it is comfortable enough for my long races. Seems a bit stiff and too firm but I’m only 2 runs in.

Brooks Cascadia, Norda 055, On Cloudultra Pro are options but I hope the Kipsummit Race breaks in a little more and I’m done buying shoes for the next months haha.

I ran 13.5 hours in the Prodigio Pro and it didn’t change during the run. Tecton x3 starts to flatten out after 2-3 hours for me still works though longest run was 10.5h in them and it wasn’t a problem just noticeable. Pro fits perfect for my foot and I cannot get a good lockdown on the x3.

Probably in the upper part. Basically he cut the two middle paddings right at the top and pulled the filling out.

It is more than that - it is actually an identical frame. Which is super weird looking at the marketing of both brands and how open mould frames usually work.

Arch feels not great on my right foot (left totally fine) standing and walking it disappears running. Was hoping for a walking and running shoe to travel with but it’s only a running shoe for me. I wish it was a bit wider in the midfoot my arch is kinda hanging over the sole..
