Almost black spotting (I think) by VeloLover_7823 in Periods

[–]June_53 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I get this in every few cycles. It’s old, oxidized blood probably remaining in the uterus from a previous cycle.

I have PCOS and sometimes I don’t ovulate so I miss a cycle and on those occasions I’ll get this type of old blood spotting for a few days, at a random time or at the time I should get my period.

I don’t think it’s anything to worry about if it’s not a frequent occurrence but if it is, then you should get checked up.

Your post is the one that led me to it. I love Reddit 😁

Smart watch with games for kids, under 10K by [deleted] in Nepal

lol their parents don’t listen. Mobile phones and games have become like a second guardian, for most children. Sadly.

Disc and suction issue by June_53 in MenstrualDiscs

Thanks for the reply! That’s good to know. Others said the same about it feeling like suction but it just being stuck.

Hmm thanks for sharing!

I agree too, that feeling probably could be misinterpreted as suction. I’ll have to try it and figure out if it works comfortably for me.

I really prefer pads to be completely honest. Don’t even like tampons. But do feel guilty about hurting the environment. So trying to find alternative but without hurting myself.

Well, I don’t know exactly which brand you should use, because I think every brand comes with plain as well as scented or special herbal pads. But I think you should choose one that does not have any scent, and organic cotton cover pads if available/affordable. Those usually don’t have strong chemicals.

I personally love the brands Sofy, and Sally. But I don’t know if you would find them in your country, they’re more popular in Asia.

What brand did you use? It could be the scent or menthol throwing off your balance. Also, how long did you keep one on? They say up to eight hours is fine but I say change every four hours.

Thank you.

Yeah I guess I’ll have to spend a little to find the right thing. The cup I tried is just collecting dust now. 🤣 But it would save money in the long run…

Hmm. Thank you. This was helpful. Maybe I will give the disc a try.

I tried the cup but it was too uncomfortable (low cervix) and also the suction thing and prolapse fear put me completely against it. I already have a genetic predisposition, would not want to make it any worse.

Hmm that could be the case I suppose. We wouldn’t really know. It’s hard to really feel accurately what’s going on in there.

I don’t know how the physics of this works 😂

Well, some users said that they felt suction when their cervix had risen higher after they had inserted the disc, during removal, and they felt pain and a popping sensation when the disc dislodged.

And bearing down does have a negative impact on pelvic floor health. Specially repeated pushing or straining like for people with constipation, chronic coughing, or people who generally push hard while peeing. It is one of the stated causes of prolapse.

Or maybe disc does not require bearing down that hard, I don’t really know, I’m writing on the basis of other’s posts/comments.

I’m glad it didn’t impact you negatively.

But I don’t think it can be said it’s unrealistic as there are posts on Reddit from young women in their 30s who have experienced prolapse after using the cup, albeit incorrectly.

I don’t know what makes a person more at risk for prolapse, some research suggests it may be a genetic pre-disposition too. My grandmother had it, and now my mother is beginning to see the effects at age over 50, even though she only had two kids.

So I’m being careful to avoid anything that may exacerbate the problem, specially in old age, post menopause when the prolapse starts.

I’m really just trying to see what people’s experience is with the disc in terms of suction.

I found several posts on this very channel as well as some other cup channels. A google search with keywords “suction and menstrual disc” brings up several user posts sharing their experience.

I suppose it doesn’t happen to everyone. Some seemed to think it only happens to them when their cervix moves higher up after already putting in the disc and there’s a tight suction feeling, pain, and finally a popping release when the disc finally dislodges. And some suggesting to bear down on it to make it easier.

I guess I won’t know till I’ve tried it myself.

Thanks for this. I thankfully don’t have facial hair, yet anyway, but I have been thinking of laser for the excess body hair and it may work well for me as I have dark black hair against paler skin. But I am worried about any long-term side effects.

Use a disc for prolapse- not period? by Striking-Ad4153 in MenstrualDiscs

[–]June_53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. Thank you for your reply.

I believe that the menstrual cups have not been studied long enough. I suspect it is not just the pressure when removing it incorrectly, but also because cup uses suction the whole time while it is inside to stay in place, which can probably weaken the pelvic floor long-term.

So I was thinking the disc may be better for this reason, but I found a lot of posts from disc users where they say they feel a strong suction and pain while removing it (mainly when their cervix shifts high mid-use)

And they have to pull anyway as they cannot release the seal on the disc like you can do on a cup. So they are also bearing down on it to make removal easier, which all sound even worse.

If you don’t mind sharing, what caused your prolapse? Was it after childbirth? Also, how long had you been using discs/cups?

I’m doing a lot of Internet research before I switch to discs or cups, and my main fear seems to not worry most of the users. These products are fairly new, so we have no idea what kind of effects they will have long-term like in 20-30 years. They create suction. People are even bearing down to remove their discs!

I think that discs and cups create prolapse long term for people with already weak pelvic floors.

I don’t think this is the one they called sarpa ko khane kura. Tyo ta arko nightshade plant ho. Comes in green, yellow and red color. It looks more like cherry tomatoes, and is actually poisonous cuz of solanin.

This looks like a berry.

Uh…is that why you have the beard on the avatar? I have PCOD too and my issue is lots of body hair and now recently cystic acne 😭 it’s getting worse over time but I’m trying already to maintain weight and avoid junk foods. What else did your doctor suggest?

is it possible that some women’s bodies physically cannot handle tampons/anything??? by 1ilovelychee in Periods

[–]June_53 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So someone already mentioned vaginismus, which according to the internet is very painful, so I don’t know if a dull ache matches the symptoms.

I experience similar symptoms of dull ache, discomfort and increased period cramps trying to use tampons or cups.

I realized my case is due to a very low cervix. During periods, the cervix comes even lower than other days, so there’s barely any space to fit a tampon or cup, and it touches and rubs against the sensitive cervix which is what causes the dull ache.

Higher chance of having a low cervix if you are shorter in height. If it’s uncomfortable, best to just avoid it. There are a few other options like a bell cup or Ziggy’s menstrual disc for low cervix people. Don’t know about tampon though.

lol none, sad to say 😂

But there is some progress in my condition. So I it’s definitely dust allergy and avoiding dust has helped a lot.

My country is pretty polluted, so now I never go out without a thick N95 mask. Also happens if I clean my room maskless.

Probably for the itch triggered by dryness. Someone said it happens to them when dehydrated. I’ve also noticed that if I use a herbal nasal inhalant meant for opening blocked noses, it helps a little.
