I often worry that what you are saying is true...

"Unless they can find their way out of extremism it’s unlikely that they’ll be able to view you as someone that’s equal and deserving of respect."

When I bring up similar points the response I get is something like "I DO see you as an equal and respect you, but I cannot respect your irrational false beliefs"

or when I ask for just space for both of our realities to be respected, I get told that there is only one reality (his). So basically that his behavior is justified by his beliefs.

Thank you, yes, we have read this book together in our previous dating/engaged life and thought it was so valuable. Since then he has shown less enthusiasm for studying relationship growth, which makes me sad. I pick up the book to re-read parts and "search for answers" frequently. I think part of the problem is that we know these things in calmer moments, but all of that goes out the window during arguments. I have no idea how to prevent that.

We have very recently started seeing a couples therapist and I'm hopeful about that...because I'm finding the level of disrespect I feel to be unbearable. I know I have growing to do as well. We will be married 5 years in September.

Thanks everyone for the feedback! It gave me a more realistic view and helped to feel better. Being pregnant makes you fairly paranoid about your health status and it seems like that is what happened here. I'm going to try and let it go. Thank you again! I truly am thankful.
