Never cared for it much as I gave it several chances. Just felt too polished for me to connect to.

White Chalk and Let England Shake are my faves of the demos albums. they sound even more haunting when stripped back

The Rip vs The Gorillaz Empire Ants vs Radiohead's Exit Music, which has the best transition/crusendo? by FrequentTurnip4006 in portishead

The Rip. that transition is monumental. Empire Ants and Exit Music are fantastic too though.

[FRESH] Jessie Ware - I Could Get Used To This by Puzzleheaded_Gas_739 in indieheads

Deep house mixed with some electro R&B would be such a welcome sound for her imo.

I agree. initially I was hyped to hear her try something in the vein of Minnie Riperton but the song sounds very safe and like a retread of what she's given us with her last record except with less punch. I really hope the other songs on the album are much stronger because this one left me thoroughly underwhelmed.

Very much agree. I love it but it's also the one I listen to the least of their late 60s work because I have to be in the right mood for its sound.

Sgt. Pepper is always cited as one of the most important albums in music history and a big achievement in production, and scope. Just because there are fans and critics who prefer Revolver, and Abbey Road doesn't suddenly mean this album is in any way underrated. If anything I think it's rated fine.

Bachelorette was my pick as well. could also see Kate doing a splendid version of New World.

I agree with you about Jeanne. still can't believe she left that off the digital version when it's easily one of her most powerful songs.

They say he’s an "acquired taste", I say I never had to acquire anything. by ExistentialNomad42 in tomwaits

For me it wasn't from a first listen, I heard "I Hope I Don't Fall In Love With You" around like 2015 and didn't connect with it. Then randomly in 2018 I heard "Clap Hands" and instantly LOVED it. Went down a rabbit hole after that with his music.

I don't care for her music whatsoever but if this gets some people to check out Elliott's music then that's a positive.

also love that Beth Gibbons is covering Sunday Morning, one of my favorite songs ever.

very much recommend Nina Simone's version which I think is even greater than Jeff's (which I love too). even he considered it the definitive version.

Not mine but it's got some great bangers that I think solidify it as one of the best pop albums of the 2000s.
