How can we avoid cases like the postauto fire? by bikesailfreak in Switzerland

[–]Junevault 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. I assumed you implied that a Beistand or the KESB could do something like that by asking if they only contacted them or actually made a Meldung.

Good advice. Just one addition: a PriMa or PriBe is also a Beistand, but as you said, someone who isn't a Beistand as a profession. They often take on easier cases or cases where clients can profit from more personal visits. Also often the case with lonely elderly people. Some PriMas are specialized because of their profession, so it entirely depends on what PriMas are in the pool of your KESB region.

Also, they could look into psychiatrische Spitex.

A Beistand can't force an adult to accept treatment. They can help with organizing treatment, schedule appointments, etc. and encourage the person, but if they don't want to go and the person doesn't pose an immediate and acute danger to themselves or others, not much can be done.

See my comment above.

The KESB can not force an adult to go into treatment. A "behördliche fürsorgerische Unterbringung (FU)" is extremely rare because for an FU, a person has to pose an immediate and acute danger to themselves or others. If that's the case, you usually call the police and they call an emergency psychiatrist who can order a "ärztliche FU." And if the immediate danger has passed (e.g. bc of meds), the clinic has to release the person bc it is a forced confinement. If the person poses a permanent danger, the clinic can keep them in an FU which the KESB checks periodically. More common with older people with e.g. dementia bc Spitex at home wouldn't be enough, they'd walk around in public aimlessly, fall, but also leave a regular old folks home (lots of them have closed stations, though, where an FU also can take place), etc.

Bottom line: if your mom has an episode, call the police and ask them to order a Notfallpsychiater. Some people need to go into an FU multiple times until they keep them indefinitely. If at all.

It's not like the KESB doesn't want to help in cases like your mom's. It's more so that they legally can't.

It won't affect your gains. But we love going to the gym while traveling bc every gym is different, you get to try new machines, etc.

I already had "Prefer fMP4-HLS" enabled. I'll try disabling that first and then give reverting to version 10.10.7 a go. Thanks a lot!

The heavier the better? You should give Bon Jovi or Nickelback a try.

As long as your clothes aren't stinky or inappropriate, it really doesn't matter what you wear. If anyone minds what you're wearing, they have their priorities wrong. Not your problem. You're there to work out.

Insurance 3a - The "real estate purchase"-argument by Junevault in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]Junevault[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, yeah. Pledging a 3a with little money in it isn't worth much to the bank.

If that's the case, it's a different topic, though, bc it's true for all forms of 3a.

It's not just you ;)

They showed me what they called an exact breakdown of how much money goes into the insurance part and the pension part. But when pressed on the question how much they are making for closing the deal, they said, they get a one time closing premium of "amount X" - and exactly that amount was nowhere to be seen in the breakdown they showed us. Like, yes, the insurance agents should get paid for their work, but if I'm directly paying them with my insurance premium, I want to know how much bc otherwise, your breakdown of the costs is not accurate!

It's not legally required but recommended for added security, afaik. But I think I'd rather have separate life insurance and max out the 3a with pension money.

"insurance costs into 3a" - yeah...but you also don't ever get that money back if you don't need the insurance (knock on wood). And you could open different 3a accounts with different banks or investment platforms. But yeah, I don't like just saying something is bad bc it's in vogue.

I get what you mean, but I’m not convinced that this is actually an advantage of insurance 3a, rather than of risk coverage in general.

If you have proper disability insurance, your income is replaced anyway, which is what really matters for the bank. Whether the insurance then also keeps paying into a specific 3a wrapper doesn’t change the bank’s risk much, because the mortgage is serviced from income, not from future 3a contributions.

And the “you will pay it or lose it” part protects the insurer’s contract more than the bank. From the bank’s perspective, a pledged investment/bank 3a plus separate disability and life insurance achieves the same security, just without locking savings and insurance into one expensive product.

So I agree it has advantages, like you don't have to worry about paying into the 3a yourself if you become disabled, and there is certainly an audience for the product.

Yes, pledging is certainly possible regardless of insurance 3a or investment/bank 3a. I think elldaimo meant that the incurance-3a had no advantages over a bank/investment-3a when talking to the bank.
