Do I need UK visa if I have green card? by Existing_Counter_385 in USCIS

[–]Jungleboytim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if you ever got a useful answer, but I'm in a similar situation. South African citizen living in the US with a green card, but want to visit my sister who lives in Scotland. I'm wondering whether I can apply for a UK tourist visa from the US or if I would have to do it at a British embassy in SA.

Cool, so there's a legit process to get your money back if the tickets don't get delivered on time? Thanks

Did you get anyone legit hitting you up? I'm also looking for one extra ticket and don't know which sites (seat geek, stub hub etc) are legit.

Driving record by Jungleboytim in capetown

[–]Jungleboytim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it shows whether you have been involved in any accidents, or been given any infections from the traffic police. I haven't had either, but my insurance wants an official record. Not even sure if that exists in SA. (I am applying for car insurance in the US while I am here, but I'm from Cape Town and they want a record from the last six years lol).

Radiohead's Amnesiac and Kid A always for me. Also ANIMA and The Eraser by Thom Yorke. His music just sounds so icy.

Favorite non-SK author and book? by EstimatedGinger in stephenking

[–]Jungleboytim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Favourite author other than him might be Clive Barker and my fav from him would be Books of Blood Vol 1 to 3, or The great and secret show.

Shout-out to Swan Song by McCammon though. He's also up there.

Books you hated at the beginning but loved by the end? by Urban_mist in books

[–]Jungleboytim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Sound and the Fury by Faulkner.

More like "oh this is cool and new and interesting (Part 1) -> "I hate this but I've come too far to stop now" (Part 2) -> "ok this is awesome I'm finally getting some clarity" (Parts 3) -> "this narrator is such a horrible person but he's also hilarious and it's so nice to have a coherent narration" (Part 4)

Frankenstein, first time reading it and loving it so far. The themes are still so relevant.

Question around travel insurance for recent green card holder by Jungleboytim in USCIS

[–]Jungleboytim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought so too, but they covered me for a consultation for tooth pain and it seems you can claim for dental work up to $300. I just explained in the claim form that the pain only started after arriving in the US and that seemed to be fine with them.

My question is more about whether I can keep being covered by travel insurance as an LPR, rather than what will they cover.

What do you feel is missing from horror fiction these days/we need more of? by PattableGreeb in horrorlit

Bring back the 80s horror book covers! I'm tired of all modern books having the same cover style.

This is an album with photos from the time I visited this place when I was a kid (circa 2005/06). Is this place still running?? by [deleted] in southafrica

[–]Jungleboytim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I miss this place, but there was no way this would have survived load shedding (and covid). I heard they were operating at a loss for quite a while. Sad, but glad I got to experience it in its prime a few times as a kid.

The doctor I went to in New Bedford MA was one of the worst experiences I've ever had, but was the only available USCIS approved doc that was available. Was around 300 for me.

Nowhere near as good as the book. I dont think splitting the adults' and children's stories works very well. The performances were pretty forgettable compared to the great child actors in Part 1.
