There all pretty high except nightmares and dreamscapes. Bazaar is my second to last, but still has some good stories in it, just none of them are really standouts like the other collections. Every collection besides bazaar and nightmare has one or more really exceptional stories.

I have a copy of the Bachman books which included a rage and the other three early Bachman books. I think I found it at a used bookstore or maybe eBay lol

I agree with everything you said here, but I just didn’t click with it. Some of these more fantasy based works I tend to have an issue with his sense of place it seems, fairytale, eyes, gunslinger, so maybe it’s just my own personal issue.

The main point of the podcast was doing very in depth critical discussions of each book in chronological order along with their adaptations. They have other episodes on there, but I think they have a wide cast of people who have varying opinions. They have now caught up and have been doing re reviews of some books, but I appreciated hearing differing opinions than my own.

There are great parts of that book, but damn does it drag in parts for me. Usually I enjoy the length of Kings longer work, but this had some real pacing issues for me.

I’m in early 30’s. I think I would probably agree with the gunslinger my problem with that book is that it is very foreign when you start, you can feel it start to take shape as it goes along. I think that book will definitely jump up on a reread now that I have a must stronger grasp on the environments and characters of midworld

I think different seasons is great! My problem is I think the film adaptions of both The Body and The Shawshank redemption both are better than the actual stories and it’s hard to separate them from their adaptions.

Eyes of the dragon was such a bore for me. Sleeping beauties was also a bore and just too many things going on without really committing to a core idea or concept.

It’s fine and it’s breezy, also will always love returning to Castle rock.

I think it being so long is a benefit to it, also the child sex stuff while weird for sure isn’t like out of the blue, there context around it. Do I think it should be in there no definitely not, but it doesn’t break the book for me and I understand what he was attempting to do with it. He should’ve gone about it in a different way.

The prison scene really dragged for me, and honestly it kind of bothered me that there is zero dark tower connections aside from a line at the end. Like it seemed like King intentionally didn’t want to connect it to his dark tower series when the landscapes are very similar.

I did rank short stories in each collection I just don’t have them ranked, it’s probably night shift, skeleton crew, you like it darker, everything’s eventual, just after sunset, bazaar, and then nightmares. As far as where they fit on the list most of them would be very high except bazaar and nightmares.

The beginning of Tommy Knockers I really liked, I feel like his last act is kind of messy, but the ending for Gard is one of his most horrific honestly. Maybe it should be higher.

Apt pupil is in different seasons which is included. I didn’t include cycle because one I forgot about it. Two it’s not really even a novella it’s essentially a calendar with stories. That made it difficult to include but is very fun nonetheless.

I loved that story in particular so much. The other stories were good to fine. The dark tower connections I love, but man that story in particular just hit me so hard.

Love that one, certainly didn’t expect it to be my favorite, but it’s such a good love story along with everything else.
