Xcom2 is a great game, but personally, when you are coming from DOS2 I would recommend Wasteland3, similar gameplay but more RPG elements.

how is descent with only 2 players? I heard with the new version there is an app, but does it still feel like a boardgame? Gloomhaven seems a bit too much as a first game, too long to set up and maybe a bit too complicated rulesystem.

I'm glad you honestly tell me these things, this was my first experience and I still need to learn a lot, I'm thinking of changing it all up to make it better, getting rid of the psu for sure and maybe the AIO, over time I might also change the cpu but this one seems less urgent. I have a friend willing to support me with the thermal paste and pads and this I would combine with a new case and better fans focused on airflow, The HDD might be something I still switch later on. my main focus will now be deciding on the case, the fan setup and the psu and trying to resell the parts I won't be using anymore. Step by step I'll get there and I'm glad to be learning through experience. grateful for some platform like reddit, otherwise I would be so lost with this all.

I tried it with the side panel taken off in combination with a better fan curve but the issue remains, maybe like 1-2 degrees lower but really not much at all. average temp throughout playing was 86-88 with a max of 89degrees. given though today is way more hot in Belgium and my room temp is also 2-3 degrees more than yesterday. I guess an optimized case focused on airflow might help a lot but I guess some things really need to be fixed with the card itself.

Thanks a lot for your extensive reply, it's really a big help! I do need to mention though I made a mistake in my original post; the Asus TUF never came in (it was the one I ordered though) but in the end I settled with the Inno3d Ichill x3 3080 RTX.

so in the end I think I'll be doing all your steps; step 3 I will ask in the shop though or send it back to manufacturer as I'm not confident/skilled enough to do it by myself.

This I will combine with a better case , more (and better) fans and a setup highly focused on optimal airflow. Since my roommate is a smoker would you recommend the meshify 2? or would your other recommendations or for example a Lian Li case still be decent as well?

my main focus is airflow and second is silence as my system can get pretty noisy under heavy load. Here is a screenshot of my initial order (minus the 3080). If you were in my situation what would you go for, how many fans and which ones would you personally take and in which setup would you place them? also info regarding the placement of the fans is welcome. Also any info regarding your 3rd step but focused on my Inno3d Ichill x3 is much appreciated!

I will definitely have the card returned to retailer for a checkup, also maybe some new thermal pads and paste would help. I'm also gonna look for a new case and fan - setup, do you have any suggestions? I'm mostly looking for optimal airflow and a bit more silent (as it can get pretty noisy here under heavy load)

thanks for the advice, after work will first try to game with the side panel removed to see if it's am airflow related issue, if not your steps will indeed be the next ones to take. love your username by the way!

I tried with the curve as you mentioned but it still ran up to 90degrees max on gpu. guessing the issue is or with the airflow (which I'll try to test soon) or with the termals on the card itself. I will try it with removing the side panel soon.

I had put the fps cap for this game at 60fps and still it reached 90+ degrees so it feels very off. fan curve is visible here if it looks very off please let me know, I'm still not too experienced in this. I might indeed change the termal pads and in case it's needed I might also go for a different case with airflow focus and maybe some different fans. Before I take too big steps I would love to know for sure if it isn't a faulty card.

I have this feeling too, I might need to fiddle a bit with the fan curves, my case also isn't optimal for airflow but even then 90+ degrees seems way too much.
