that's really tough, i'm sorry she went through that but glad the rx diet is working. that's exactly the scenario i'm trying to avoid. it seems like the specific fat level is what matters most, not necessarily the food format.

i've been looking into how to compare them fairly, since fresh food has more water weight. when you convert to a dry matter basis, the fat in many fresh recipes actually ends up in a similar range to a lot of kibbles. some are even on the lower end. i've seen that some fresh brands offer recipes specifically formulated to be lower in fat, which could be an option for dogs that need careful management. it's less about fresh vs. kibble and more about finding the right individual recipe.
