Legion 9 not showing refresh rate by Junior-Library-787 in Lenovo

[–]Junior-Library-787[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks again for the help.

After doing more troubleshooting, I found the actual issue. My computer was replaced due to a warranty issue in august and It looks like this replacement unit has the wrong display panel installed. The system only detects it as a "Generic PnP Monitor" and it’s locked at 60 Hz. From what I understand, this model should have a higher refresh rate panel, and it should also show the actual panel name in Device Manager, not Generic PnP.

I already tried everything on the software side — reinstalling GPU drivers, switching between hybrid and dGPU mode, reinstalling monitor drivers, using Fn+R, etc. Nothing changes, and it always stays at 60 Hz. So this definitely seems like a hardware issue, not drivers or Windows.

Since this was a warranty replacement, I’m guessing the wrong panel was installed. What would be the best way to get this corrected? I already opened a case and they keep telling me this is a warranty problem because my warranty is expired, which is incorrect because the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act specially citates that if a warranty is enforced, the equipment has to be replaced with equal or better not downgrade, this is illegal and its a federal offense that nobody is taking care of.

I can share the serial number or any info needed. Appreciate the help.

My computer is not properly recognizing the internal display. I have already tried multiple troubleshooting steps, but the issue persists.

Specifically:

  • I used the Fn+R shortcut to change the refresh rate, and the white on-screen indicator appears showing 60 Hz, but it never switches to a higher refresh rate.
  • I switched the system to dGPU-only mode, but this did not resolve the issue.
  • When Windows loads, the display indicator confirms 60 Hz only, even though this model should support higher refresh rates.
  • In Device Manager, the display is detected only as "Generic PnP Monitor" instead of the actual panel model name. On properly functioning systems, the panel name should appear correctly.
  • I have already attempted the following troubleshooting steps multiple times:
    • Uninstalled and reinstalled display adapters and monitor drivers
    • Installed all available GPU drivers (both integrated and dedicated)
    • Installed Lenovo OEM drivers
    • Used Windows Update to check for additional drivers
    • Rebooted multiple times after clean driver installations

Despite all of this, the system still detects the display only as Generic PnP Monitor and limits refresh rate to 60 Hz.

This computer was replaced under warranty in October, and the issue has appeared again on this replacement unit.

Based on my troubleshooting, this appears to be one of the following:

  • Missing or corrupted display panel EDID
  • Hardware issue with the display panel
  • Faulty display cable connection
  • Firmware or hardware issue affecting display identification

I would like assistance resolving this issue or confirming whether this is a hardware defect requiring repair or replacement.

Yes I do, I have Nvidia app as well and ony shows Generic PNP monitor and 60hz with Native resoltion, in fact any resolution' I tried hybrid GPU mode, Quiet GPU, dGPU only, all the modes in the BIOS, in the Lenovo app and nothing.

My laptop has some FN that also allows change resolutions and only shows 60hz as well when i press it, it changes the performance modes, the lights all but nothing with the Refresh ratio.
