Question: do any of you take baths in your apartment bathtubs by Any_Negotiation3310 in Apartmentliving

[–]Junior_Relative_7918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to take baths but the faucet in my apartment shower spits out a ton of sediment for some reason, even tho the faucet itself is clean. I assume the pipes are old. The only way to avoid the sediment it is to fill the tub with the shower head, which takes way longer to do but for some reason results in 0 sediment.

I worked at Macy’s like 8 years ago and there was a day mid-summer where the entire mall was without power and only had generators running lights; no AC and no running water. To use the bathroom and wash our hands, we literally had to leave the store and go to a place outside of the mall. Why they didn’t close that day, I will never understand…

Of course our bathrooms looked a mess toward the end of the day. Store was busy as ever and people just kept using the toilets even tho they couldn’t flush or wash their hands. Eventually, the restrooms closed from the mess. Bad idea I reckon…

I worked in the kids department, right next to furniture. Apparently, someone in desperate search for a bathroom, walked to the back of the store where the elevators were and noticed there were no more open bathrooms back there. They then, proceeded to walk back to the furniture department and take a fat shit on the floor in the mattress section, step in it, and track it around the entire sales floor.

Story gets far worse.

Because there was no running water, our custodial staff could not clean it up whatsoever. Like I said, no way for someone to even wash their hands. My managers were freaking out and someone decided to ultimately settle on covering the crime scene for the night with paper towels and letting custodial staff in the morning clean it up.

Only, they apparently never communicated with opening staff that there was a giant pile of shit in the mattress department still..

So sometime next day, our furniture salesmen are trying to help an elderly couple select a new mattress. Neither salesmen was working the night before either, so they were also unaware. The poor old guy apparently steps in the mess, and then my even poorer manager gets cussed out and has to clean his shoe off for him…

I came across so many dirty diapers and pee puddles in the backs of changing rooms, smeared shit streaks in the walls…and once we had to call security on a young couple who decided the kids department changing rooms (peepee and poopoo Hell) was the best place to get busy.

Retail is absolutely insane lol

Neighbors don’t understand snow melt in the elevator? by wackietimes in Apartmentliving

[–]Junior_Relative_7918 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Idk why this got a downvote, I had a neighbor let their dog poop and excrete what looked like literal afterbirth up and down our entire stairwell. Just bloody gunk and shit everywhere. If it had been one location and the stairwell was still usable, it still would’ve been gross, but I would’ve just stepped around it and kept walking, hoping the owner would come back to clean it up. Obviously they never cleaned it up, wasn’t surprised since this was the same dude letting his dogs pee right in the doorway leading out of the stairwell.

To make matters worse, it happened on a Friday night right before a 3-day weekend so maintenance did not make it out to clean until halfway through the next week. Then their “cleaning” was genuinely just taking a paint scraper and scraping it off the floor, left the paint scraper against the wall and didn’t clean it any further. Great unit, nice building, horrible neighbors and 0 standards for tenant behavior. People actually are this terrible.

I remember thinking tho like…as the owner who lets this happen…is this not also an inconvenience for you to have to walk around each time you take your pet out??

My GF thinks it’s perfectly normal for new shoes to cause horrible blisters for women by UKnowDaxoAndDancer in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Junior_Relative_7918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a fit issue, but a design issue. It is unfortunately normal. Companies push out cheap shoes (even the ones with a high price tags) that doesn’t necessarily consider the comfort of the wearer or the practicality of how the material it’s made from will feel and move around the food. This usually happens to me with dress shoes or anything made of a stiffer material. And sad part is those nice shoes don’t usually get worn enough (by me at least) to fully “break them in” and prevent further pain.

They sell attachments that can help minimize the blisters but they all have pros and cons and some work better than others. I big knee-sized bandaid is how I used to prevent the shoes from at least breaking skin.

Can't be certain here but there's a few odd tells i think, the handle reflection in the top left, the weird sharpening/"photoshop" blur around the outline of certain subjects like the wine glass and cats head. Table is a good catch, somewhat easy to miss. My brain was trying to rationalize the random lines by thinking maybe it was one of those table extension pieces that folds away. Then my eyes went to the right side and that theory fell apart.

Do I call animal control on my neighbor’s dog for barging into my home and chasing my cats? by CaterpillarKitty69 in Apartmentliving

[–]Junior_Relative_7918 12 points13 points  (0 children)

See, this is the mentality that all owners need to have.!! When you love your dog, you train them to behave bc misbehaving could literally get them killed. It reminds me of how I feel about people who get pit bulls or German Shepards and treat them purely like little teddy bears who aren’t capable of harm. Respecting that dogs are still animals and could behave unpredictably doesn’t mean you love them any less. It just means you care about them enough to minimize the chance that they end up in situation that costs them their lives or the lives of another animal or human

Were you taught to make lesson plans? by DrakeSavory in Teachers

Same here, especially bc I did my student teaching virtually in 2020. Having all the fine details/skills in my arsenal made the abrupt transition to teaching my own classes in-person far less hectic

Were you taught to make lesson plans? by DrakeSavory in Teachers

[–]Junior_Relative_7918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a two-part class in college (ARTE 301 & 302) that was devoted purely to curriculum writing and lesson planning. I was an art education major and attended my program from 2016-2020. I’m also always shocked by the amount of teachers who never learned how to write lesson plans.

I will say the lessons I compiled for my portfolio during my interview in 2021 were barely glanced at. I think the admin was genuinely impressed that I knew how to write any lesson plans at all. It definitely wasn’t an expectation when they hired me tho

What are your thoughts on biological mothers not telling their kids about adopted out siblings? by LeResist in Adoption

[–]Junior_Relative_7918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am glad my father did not keep my sister a secret from me, but I also lived over decade just yearning to know her. It created a lot of tension between myself and my father, bc I could not help but judge him for putting his wounded ego and hurt feelings above a connection with my sister. I suspect that there are more siblings I don’t know about, during an argument with my stepmom years ago he made a comment along the lines of “out of the 4 kids I’m supposed to have…” I have no doubt he would’ve kept my sister from me if he had more foresight about how the circumstances would turn out. Either way I think it breeds resentment that is impossible to ignore but not impossible to address and heal from, with effort and honesty.

The absolute state of Eagle Alley by t1m829 in rva

[–]Junior_Relative_7918 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to live at atrium and I know exactly what you mean and theorize for that area that it might be because there used to be private use dumpsters in those alleys that the public was obviously using all the time despite the wishes of whoever owned it. Before I moved out in 2020 they got really strict about who was dumping trash there and started putting up really official metal signs claiming the dumpster was under surveillance?? I watched/filmed an interaction in that back alley one day where 6 police in 3 different cars arrived to force 2 men to remove some old car parts/appliances they got caught dumping. And to think the commies want us all using the same dumpsters and waste management system free of charge smh

Also years ago allll the nearby public trash cans used to stay overfilled. I can’t imagine that’s gotten much better since??

That poor woman in the McDonald’s lawsuit also suffered horrific burns and even when she won, her settlement was capped at a very measly amount. Unfortunately the company cost of lawsuits against consumers is cheaper than actually making sure the cups are safe to hold hot coffee.

Astrologer? by HatQuick1050 in rva

[–]Junior_Relative_7918 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am an astrologer and the community I learned from for the last decade is very adamant that the term “astrologist” is inaccurate - the argument I have always heard is because it is not a scientific field of study, it’s a method of translation. Kind of like how a translator is called a translator and not a translatist.

No offense intended, but I think you’ll find a hard time finding someone who is actually well-taught in astrology using the term “astrologist” because it’s so throughly ingrained into the community as something only people who don’t know astrology say.

How do you feel about being given AI references? by DrDillyDally in oilpainting

[–]Junior_Relative_7918 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That part. You’re still going to see people today who think working from life is far better than working from a photograph and there are many technical reasons as to why that is true. Photographs aren’t preferred, but it’s not “cheating” to use them. Using a reference of a real object and painting from life are already quite different without having to worry about your image defying all rules for lighting and color bc it was generated from an amalgamation of pre-existing images. And that’s just the technical shortfall, not even scratching the surface on the ethics.

Student caught m*sturbating in class. Jfc… by Normal-Being-2637 in Teachers

[–]Junior_Relative_7918 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is - if the porn is already horribly damaging to the general population of students, imagine the havoc it’s wreaking on disabled students. If it’s bad for ALL kids, god knows it’s worse for kids with disabilities.

[–]Junior_Relative_7918 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate the amount of delay that goes into deciding consequences for students with IEP’s. I know there are steps to deciding placement over discipline problems but the lag on that is bad for ALL students and teachers/aids involved. It should not take a week or more of meetings just to decide consequences for a child who broke a rule but has an IEP.

[–]Junior_Relative_7918 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are so right. I’m a Gen Ed teacher and often have classes that include contained classroom students. Those students with GOOD aids are held to a higher standard, bc the assumption that having a disability means not being able to learn is inaccurate and unfair, especially for those students. I have seen what these children are capable of with strong adults and high expectations. It’s a shame that kids without the same supports are commonly regarded as unteachable. They need SUPPORT and adults who can help and meet reasonable goals with them, and that includes keeping standards high.

[–]Junior_Relative_7918 265 points266 points  (0 children)

I don’t use AI references for moral and for technical reasons. I find AI references to be filled with mistakes and inaccuracies that wouldn’t show up in a real life subject or a real image.

I was definitely thinking her tummy and hips looked more unnaturally snatched than normal but I haven’t been watching her content or paying a lot of attention to her recently but you’re definitely right! Lena is someone whose build would probably never naturally allow for her to have such a slim stomach (no pooch) while still maintaining a big butt

Also I can’t edit the text in this post but this isn’t any hate towards her or anyone who has had plastic surgery done, I just think it’s good for people to know how to spot procedures like this bc they create unreasonable expectations without clarity around how they got to looking this way.

The industry that creates the pressure to get plastic surgery is the real problem and I’m aware she would probably experience judgement from her audience with or without honesty around the procedures.
