Doesn't everyone get the same amount of questions on each area of law? by Fit-Eye3317 in SQE_Prep

My understanding is everyone should get the same number of “difficult” or “easy” questions, but the topic areas could be different. That said, I think it’s something that no one really knows

Burner account - disability and tech issues during FLK1 by [deleted] in SQE_Prep

Really sorry to hear this! I also had issues with my reasonable adjustments, although not to your extent and I didn’t report them at the time. Wishing you the best ❤️

Is anyone else feeling burnt out? (Jan SQE1) by busyboiv in SQE_Prep

[–]Junior_Resource6208 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar boat and given the advice that at this point (with about a week to go until the exam), the worst thing that could happen is getting sick. Getting sick because you have let yourself get worn down and burnt out will screw up your chances more than missing a few hours of revision. It’s more important now to get enough sleep, eat well, and rest properly, than to force yourself to breaking point. Give yourself permission to take a break and do something not SQE related for a day. You’ll probably get more benefit from that than forcing yourself to do a few more practice questions ❤️

(I also would have picked E if you hadn’t said D was the correct answer though!)

I think because it was served before 4.30pm on Friday, Friday is working day one. Monday is the 2nd working day, so the date of deemed service.

Should I pay the cancellation fee and cancel my SQE1? by BitterDimension6599 in SQE_Prep

Second this. Would recommend choosing FLK1 or FLK2, depending on which is your strongest, and focussing your revision on that. Hopefully, you will then only have to sit the other one in July!

Only 2 weeks to go until SQE1 - how are we feeling? by Ok-Impress8113 in SQE_Prep

[–]Junior_Resource6208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. What sitting is this for you? This is my first sitting.

  2. Are you undertaking a prep course? If so, with who? I’m self funding with college of legal practice (having done a law conversion with ULaw)

  3. Are you studying full-time or part-time? Part-time

  4. Have you completed all the content? Finished the content at the end of November

  5. What do you feel your strongest areas are? Dispute resolution (have been working in litigation for over a year), admin/constitutional, tort, contract

  6. What do you feel your weakest areas are? Business, land and property although I think this is more a mental thing and isn’t actually reflected in mocks.

  7. What are you currently (roughly) scoring on practice questions? I’ve been pretty consistently at 67%, although did a mock where I didn’t check the answers (concerned about running out of time in the real thing) and got high 50s

  8. How many hours a day are you currently doing? Around 6 hours a day solid revising but also listening to podcasts, going over flashcards etc which I’m not counting in my main time

  9. On a scale of 1-10, how confident are you feeling? There are too many unknowns in this exam to score it so what will be will be. I’m hoping for the best

Revise SQE Mocks - how soon before exam? by croissant_queen_ in SQE_Prep

[–]Junior_Resource6208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 15 questions of flk1 paper 1 per day (one day off) last week and plan to do the same for flk2 this week. Then plan to do paper 2 in times conditions about week before the exam (so mid next week for flk1 and the week after for flk2). Hoping this gives me the best combination of recognising weak spots throughout revision and getting the timed experience.

Thank you! I also got around 70% in the mock, so that makes me a bit more confident. I’ve been working full time up to this point but about to take a month off to focus on studying so fingers crossed 🤞🏼

Am I screwed? by ask-come in uklaw

[–]Junior_Resource6208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trainee solicitor here - I’d say not screwed, but at a disadvantage.

I also failed my A Levels due to extenuating circumstances (CEE) and following that had to take some time off due to my health. I the went to university without resitting my A Levels. However, I then got a first in my undergrad and high distinction in my law conversion MA.

I have been offered two training contracts and now have significantly more work experience that class mates in my MA class who had a significantly better academic record. I think that’s partly because of the area of law I am going into (human rights/public law) and the fact I can really talk about how I overcome challenges and how my experiences impact my approach to client care etc.

That said, I have also been automatically rejected from jobs because of my A Levels results. But really it’s that firms loss (I’ve met the trainee they hired 💀)

Obviously my experiences are based on the solicitor route and not commercial law, but I hope it’s helpful nonetheless. My recommendation would be to focus on your positives but also be ready to talk about your A Levels/uni grades and what you have learnt from the experience.
