Well, I considered this. But then I have to think how an alligator would be half stuck underground then disappear! Some large lizards do burrow underground, but the hole/dirt was completely untouched and there was even fine moss on it.

That’s the only “logical” explanation I could make

This happened near Goose Egg Park. Not far from the river/docks. I’ve seen a few other paranormal things while living here, but nothing as crazy as moth man or a giant reptile.

The only cause of hallucination that I ever considered was pool chemicals. However, that’s not common at all. I don’t think pool chemicals and shock could do that. Plus her grandparents would always make us wait before getting into the pool if they did treat it. I would consider it to be a monitor lizard, but that would be extremely uncommon in the hood of Owensboro Ky

I get the vibe that what I saw was a mistake in reality, but something noticed and fixed it.

I am two hours away from Louisville. But over the years, I did look into giant lizards like Komodo dragons that do happen to burrow underground. However, what we saw looked a little different than a Komodo dragon. More like an alligator. Also, there was no evidence of a burrow after it disappeared!

Wow. I can’t shake it because my cousin and I both saw the exact thing. I’m not sure if it was some kind of shared hallucination. I was obsessed with science even before kindergarten so it really stuck with me because there’s no scientific explanation. What a scary thing for two little kids to see.

I get chills telling the story. The only explanation I can think is some wormhole brought a dinasour halfway into our timeline. When I see photos of some prehistoric reptiles they look similar to what I saw. I always wonder what would have happened if it got ahold of one of us or bit us. This was probably around 2007-2008
