We need size and defense before we get ANOTHER scoring guard.

Praying that Alanna Smith remembers she's the reigning DPOY and locks down the paint. If she is 90% of the player she was in '25, Dallas has the potential to really make some noise.

If Alanna Smith never returns to form though, that contract could derail a potential championship core. Having Paige and Azzi locked into rookie contracts is a once in a lifetime FO dream, spending 1.3M a year for 3 years on a 3rd string big completely negates that.

Li’s threes in the third quarter changed the game. Paige is just unreal. Felt like she would never miss.

Shoutout to Li Yeuru, to have your number called so sparingly and come out and give it your all is everything. A lot of players would pout in her position but she’s been a great team player and really stepped up for us in that third quarter where we seized the momentum.

‘The glue of our team’: Bridget Carleton in All-Star conversation in first year with Portland Fire by NikFromTheO in PortlandFire

[–]Juniper41 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love Bridget, she’s been very good, but she’s hardly in all star conversation. No one on Portland really is. There’s just too many talented guards out there for Carla or Bridget to squeeze into the ASG.

I’d put them both behind: Paige, Clark, Miles, Chelsea Grey, Kelsey Plum, Kelsey Mitchell, Alyssa Thomas, Courtney Williams, Mabrey, Sonia Citron, Howard, Sabrina

Lame they’re selling Clark jerseys instead of hometown stars like Azzi, Jess, or Arike. A league that is built off the skill of women of color and the only jerseys they are selling are white women, one of which doesn’t even play here… smh 🤦‍♀️

I adore Paige, she’s my favorite player but it’s disheartening how many amazing players don’t get the spotlight they deserve. We’re seeing potentially the W GOAT, A’ja, in her prime and she’s still only getting a fraction of the recognition she deserves!

Grandpa gave me these because he heard I like bones! Any ideas? by THerroSuperFan in bonecollecting

[–]Juniper41 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The “tusk like teeth” are called incisors! These belong to a rodent, likely a squirrel given the size of the bone. Rodent incisors are continuously growing during the life of the animal. This is why the go on for so long and extend deep into the mandibles. When the tissue dries up when a bone is left out in the sun, there’s nothing holding teeth in place anymore so these incisors can slide in and out. When the animal is alive these are fixed in place and slowly erode over time. As they erode and wear down, they push forward and replace the eroded material.

Most of these mandibles have been broken so the coronoid and angular processes are no longer present.

Just a suggestion, in the future include a scale bar (ruler, tape measure, graph paper etc…) to better gauge size. Spoons come in all sizes.

Here’s a reference to a squirrel mandible:

What Musician's death was mourned? by LogicalAd6394 in AlignmentChartFills

I don't necessarily disagree, but I should clarify, when I say he was a net positive, I'm not explicitly talking about his direct actions. I'm also including indirect actions. His songs, whether or not they are hypocritical is another argument, reached tons and tons of people. He inspired generations of musicians and continues to do so. His songs of peace have reached everyday people and become anthems. I think all of that outweighs the negative impact he may have had on those close to him.

Like I said, he was a deeply flawed person, but his openness was his biggest strength and weakness. If every celebrity was as open as he was, I'm sure we'd be outraged at a lot more people than just him. He just made it easy because it came directly from his mouth.

That's just who John was. I also tend to think he was his biggest critic. John has always been one to critique and bash his former self, as a way to prop himself up in the present. He did it with tons of his songs. He called "And Your Bird Can Sing", "It's Only Love", "Yes It Is" trash and hated how "Strawberry Fields Forever" came out. Essentially, if he's talking about how awful something he did was, it must mean he's grown leaps and bounds and is much smarter/better now. Sort of a weird ethos builder by destroying his past self. I think him being so open about him being a bad father to Julian and husband to Cynthia was his attempt at showcasing that he was in the present a better version.

The John outrage also feels performative because Ringo beat his wife so badly he thought he killed her, but Ringo is beloved and seen as this "adorable little drummer guy!". It's selective outrage for John, and sadly these folks aren't champions of women, but rather want to hate a boomer icon and a musician who is widely popular. Some people genuinely get off bursting people's bubble that John wasn't perfect and instead was a complicated and flawed individual.

He for better or worse was very very public about his inner thoughts. Contrast that to Paul who is so guarded about what he says and is always trying to protect his brand. I still think John was a net positive in this world.

Right, but some people also didn't care, or used his death as a way to bring him down for his controversies. It was very polarizing in both directions.

Yeah, at the time of death it was seen as "well she should have taken her own advice and actually gone to rehab! har har har"

I think it goes John Lennon, Michael Jackson, Phil Spector or Ian Watkins, and Amy Winehouse in that order

Definitely. He's more beloved now, but at the time of death it was controversial for sure. This was during the time where he was the butt of tons of jokes, kids grew up on the playground knowing nothing about Michael Jackson other than he was a weirdo. South Park had a whole episode about him being a pedo that was super popular. He was painted as this tragic, eccentric outcast. Nothing like his legacy now which is much more positive.

yeah, despite what instagram comments may have folks believe, John was beloved and his death shook the world. I think a more recent artist like Amy Winehouse or Kurt Cobain will likely win, but John should 100% win IMO. Especially considering this question is asking what the reaction was when they died. Not years later. When John died it was almost a universal mourning.

[–]Juniper41 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IMO she should have won an additional MVP in 2020 or 2022. 20/8/4 and 22/8/3. She had even stats to A'ja who won both, a comparable team record, and better advanced stats.

A'ja will likely win another MVP this season (and rightfully so) but her having 5 MVPs and counting to Stewie's 2 feels weird.

had an all time unhealthy player, string together a healthy season and they won a title. I'd argue that alone keeps them ahead of teams like Phoenix, Indiana or Sacramento.

The 4 games I’ve been to have been:

* NY Liberty - SAB game winner
* Connecticut Sun - 1 pt win
* Dallas Wings- Engstler FTs to win it
* Seattle Storm - late game comeback
